Karen Gables

This is a long overdue review of Karen Gables. We visited during the summer of 2022 before going on safari; we wanted to rest for a couple of days and see Nairobi before leaving on safari in the Mara. While we were staying at Karen Gables, my daughter and I were injured at the elephant sanctuary. Karen Gables staff accompanied me and my husband to the hospital, served as translators and help, and were by our side for hours. Their dedication, generosity, and kindness were truly extraordinary. Although the hospital tests showed no damage (no broken bones), I ended up having an MRI back in the US that showed extensive ligament tears, etc.--some which cannot be repaired by surgery. I could barely walk and was on crutches in Nairobi. We are so grateful to everyone at Karen Gables for their time, care, and thoughtfulness. Aside from their help with our injuries, we were amazed by the delicious food, beautifully appointed rooms, and discrete but sensitive and gracious attentiveness to our needs. This is such a unique and lovely place--we'd have our coffee while watching the monkeys play in the trees! It's a green sanctuary that is very private and restorative. It was the perfect location for visiting highlights of Nairobi, as well. THANK you to everyone who works at Karen Gables and who made our stay so wonderful, despite an unpredictable accident.

I still cannot find the right words to compliment Karen Gables but I’ll try –well, Karen Gables was my first place i stayed after my 4 yrs. working abroad and this place was absolutely worth my money and time.I was lucky enough to do a walk-in otherwise i understand it’s always packed as its authenticity serves a seamless / rather warm hospitality that is limited abroad. The location serves you peace and quiet except the glorious sound of tree and birds. Below is a valley filled with difference trees majorly Eucalyptus and its warm scents cleanses your thoughts .There is a stream flowing through the property and should you opt for a Spa treatment a tent will actually be erected besides the stream . Karen Gables is at an extremely safe location suitable for many things i.e. Private weddings (the stairs would be the perfect aisle .A mental retreat camp. Honeymoon getaway. A vintage movie set for its colonial ambience … the possibilities gos on on and on. Thanks to Christian (Owner) Chris (Reception) and William (F&B) and the chefs.The food was tasty but an African Themed Menu would be much more suitable. My Rating is 1000/100. Regard Mercy Gitari. A place of Zen luxury and relaxation. Beautiful ambiance with fireplaces all over the property. Lush gardens with a forest with a choir if bird voices water features. A perfect place to unwind before your safari or relax in between business meetingsThe rooms private luxurious so comfortable. Staff friendly cuisine excellent. I stayed there twice and I always regret when I leave that I did not book longer

The perfect destination to rest and unwind after so many days being active in Kenya. A beautiful and serene oasis tucked away from the heart of Nairobi. The grounds were absolutely stunning with perfect landscaping, and our room was private and nestled. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, including with dietary restrictions.

After two long flights from the US, we arrived late at night. The staff could not have been more gracious and welcoming. The accommodations and breakfast were outstanding. We had the opportunity to talk to Chris, the owner. The hotel grounds are right out of an upscale garden magazine. He pointed out the irritating baboon, discussed the inner working of the hotel's huge aquarium and was a great host.

Karen Gables is a really lovely hotel situated in the lovely district of Karen in Nairobi. It is much less like a hotel and more of an extended family home, with 8 rooms for visitors. You really do feel like one of the owner Chris' personally invited guests as he strolls the grounds and drops by for an informal chat. We stayed there one night after a safari trip and I wish we could have stayed longer. The rooms are lovely with beautiful views, ours looked out over the rear garden which had a walkway through it as well as an impressive and inviting pool. The food here was of a high standard and the service and friendliness of the staff exceptional. I really do hope to have the chance to return one day and stay longer

A delightful, secluded hotel in Karen which is conveniently located close to a number of tourist spots such as the Karen Blixen Museum, Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and the Giraffe Centre. The staff were thoughtful, personable and respectful of guests and the hotel was extremely accommodating with our request for a late check-out (given the flight time on our final day). The property is nicely appointed and well-maintained. Highly recommend.

We absolutely adored Karen Gables! It’s the most cozy place ever with an amazing staff and even more amazing food! We felt right at home here when arriving in Nairobi. I would come back here a million times.
