Mount Lavinia Hotel

Het uitzicht was fantastisch; het uitzicht op zee vanuit de kamer was beter dan in andere hotels. Er was een 100 jaar oude lift en de schoonmaak en service waren uitstekend. Ze hebben zelfs mijn kamer geüpgraded! Elke kamer had een groot boeket verse bloemen, maar het waren gele chrysanten (in de lobby stonden witte chrysanten) 😄. De tv-kabel was kapot en ze kwamen hem repareren. Het was een beetje jammer dat de oude man die vroeger origami vouwde in het restaurant er niet meer was. Er waren best wat gasten, maar minder Europese en Amerikaanse.

De omgeving is prachtig, maar de faciliteiten en diensten laten te wensen over en de wachttijden zijn erg lang!

Please consider twice when booking this hotel. Please avoid this hotel for god sake. This is second time staying this hotel after 8 years ago. This hotel has gone really bad condition and services in big time. My holidays was completely ruined Upon my arrival check in, the receptionist name “kalpani” was very rude and printed out a check in paper which is not my name and told me to sign it. I told her that is not my name and I refused to sign it but she said is ok just sign and I will change in the system. I wonder what the world this hotel running the business like that. I insisted her to change and she showed her moody face and told me to wait for 1 hour. She gave me old wing but I have paid for new wing with a higher price. So changed again the room. I wonder the staff are not being paid properly and don’t have any hospitality & system at all. My room is bad and aircon was not working. I went 3 times to reception to ask for changing my room and they told me we are busy. Lost my 5 hours waiting for room to be changed. Well, they promised to come back to me but at the end they ignored my complaint. At last they just told me all the rooms are same like this with aircon problem because the management had set 26 celcious for aircon. So basically u can’t change the aircon temperature in the room. What a mess!! We are staying 2 nights with sweats and room is so stuffy. We just couldn’t wait to leave the hotel and check out. Well, along the hotel aisle, you can see a lot of stand fan where other guest has complained about the heat in the room. The solution is they will provide u a stand fan like 2 stars hotel. They are charging usd100 per night but basic aircon system, they have failed big time. We are having 2 rooms and another room door basically you can’t lock. Anyone can just open your door from the handle outside. We have went to reception to inform them more than 5 times as we have valuable items with us in the room, they couldn’t be bothered. The front office executive name “ dulaj “ didn’t deliver his promise to change our room. At very last day we check out, the door has not been fixed. Imagine anyone can coming to your room without needed to use room key card. I have attached the video as evidence

Awesome location so close to the beach but they really need to up their game on maintenance which seems to be lacking for years. It’s not healthy for paying customers to be breathing in dust and musty surroundings. Apart from that it’s a beautiful hotel with so much heritage and hope they will do justice to improve the place

Staff were very friendly and happy to help. Pool was great with beautiful views and plenty of room for everyone (never felt crowded). The room was very run down and the AC made alot of noise which made it difficult to sleep. The bed was comfortable and room was clean, just very old.

I booked this hotel through Trip.com almost two months in advance, and my booking was confirmed and paid for. However, when I arrived to check in at around 10 pm, I was told by the hotel that my reservation had been cancelled by their reservation team because the hotel was overbooked. What I cannot understand is how a hotel can allow a confirmed booking to remain in place and only identify an overbooking issue just three days before the stay. I received no proper notification from the hotel or Trip.com informing me that my booking had been cancelled. Even worse, when I arrived, the hotel could not provide me with a room despite having already paid for my booking. I was told to find and pay for another hotel myself, which caused huge stress and inconvenience, especially as I was travelling as a tourist. I asked to speak to the duty manager, but was told there was no manager available at that time. For a large hotel, I find it unacceptable that there was nobody available to deal with such a serious issue at 10 pm. I was promised a call the following morning, but nobody contacted me. I called again two days later and was told someone would get back to me as soon as possible. Another two days have now passed, and I still have received no call or proper explanation. The customer service has been extremely disappointing from start to finish. The way this situation was handled was completely unacceptable. I would strongly advise anyone considering booking this hotel to think carefully before doing so. If a confirmed booking can be cancelled due to overbooking without proper notice, and customers are then left to deal with the consequences themselves, I would not feel confident booking here again.

I rarely leave negative feedback, but our recent stay at Mount Lavinia Hotel was an absolute disaster from start to finish. For a property charging these rates, the level of service and basic maintenance is completely unacceptable. From the moment we arrived, the staff set a cold, unwelcoming tone. The front office staff, in particular, seemed bothered by our presence and lacked any warmth or hospitality. Things only got worse when we were assigned a room on the 5th floor. The elevator was completely out of order, forcing us to haul ourselves up five flights of stairs. When we reported the broken lift to management, we were met with indifference and a total lack of empathy or resolution. The absolute low point of our stay was dining at what is marketed as their prestigious, flagship restaurant. While at the table, we were horrified to see arguments between our next table people and the hotel staff on a cockroach presence on their served food—we had to leave immediately just to escape the situation. This property is severely outdated, poorly maintained, and run by an indifferent team. Save your money and book elsewhere; this place is nowhere near worth what they are charging.

Very Disappointing Stay — Would Not Recommend Unfortunately, our stay was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The biggest issue was the air conditioning. We were sweating constantly and could not sleep or comfortably stay in the room. Next day we asked the staff to fix the AC because it was unbearable, we were told that it had already been fixed and would be working. However, it was still not working. We then had to wait for around an hour just to be told that the issue was supposedly due to functions taking place at the hotel. What was even more concerning was that, according to the bellboy, some rooms simply have AC units that are already broken. This made the explanation about the function even more frustrating. We also had to wait until around 7 PM to receive complimentary water bottles, tea bags, and sugar because we were told they were waiting for the delivery truck to arrive. The rooms were poorly maintained, and there was an unpleasant sewer smell that came and went. The overall service was very disappointing. Another inconvenience was that if a booking is made through two separate reservations, guests have to return to reception, and have the key card updated. This is unnecessarily inconvenient compared with the smoother process at other hotels. Parking is available outside the hotel, but we noticed there were no security guards present, particularly at night. This raised concerns about the safety of vehicles and belongings, as there appeared to be no security monitoring the premises. Overall, the poor maintenance, unbearable heat, unreliable AC, unpleasant smell, delays in providing basic amenities, inconvenient service, and security concerns made this a very unpleasant stay. We had to cancel the second day because the room was simply not suitable to stay in. Definitely would not recommend this hotel and would not stay here again.

Beautiful hotel and location:However terrible maintainance throughout the hotel. Flies in the bedroom.stains on bedding and sofa.ceiling had collapsed in the corridor and leaks everywhere, very poor lighting in the corridor. The food was amazing and overall staff was lovely. Tania from the front office was extremely helpful professional and helped us with all queries.
