Basin Harbor

We had an amazing honeymoon at Basin Harbor. Our visit was in mid May while they were just getting ready for the busy season. While not everything was open, it also meant the crowds were not there and it made our time very romantic. We had the heated pool and outdoor hot tubs to ourselves. A storm was coming and instead of canceling our boat excursion the staff found us and offered to take us earlier before the storm came. We got to see where the wrecks were and the pair of bald eagles were perched on trees waiting for us. The nest was huge and too high to see the babies. We didn’t have time to get our binoculars but the staff is amazing and found a pair. The staff went out of the way to make us feel welcome. Need something? Just ask and they will do their best to take care of you. The activities looked exciting for when they are fully staffed. Lots of options for food and we noticed they had activities for all ages. We were on our honeymoon and left the kids and grand kids at home. We felt so special and the warmth and caring staff made our experience the best ever.

We LOVED getting married at Basin Harbor - BEST decision of our entire wedding planning process. Anne, Lauren, and the entire Basin Harbor staff were incredible to work with and took care of every detail while staying calm throughout the process and fielding my many questions - we couldn't have asked for a better team to work with. We had a wedding planner as well, but honestly, I would have trusted Anne and her team, as they know the place from years of hosting weddings, but still take the time to get to know each couple and facilitate a personal touch. The best thing about BH is that all guests can stay onsite - from the time our guests arrived, people didn't have to think about a car until departure on Monday. We got married Labor Day weekend, and the extra day allowed for maximum lounging, boating, and activities galore. The Red Mill was amazing, food was wonderful, our guests all raved about Basin Harbor for months afterwards and still want to return annually. Thank you for the most magical weekend of our lives, Basin Harbor!

My husband and I just had our wedding at Basin Harbor and we couldn't be happier with our experience. Not only is the venue gorgeous, the team was phenomenal. Lauren and Anne were responsive and helpful throughout the whole process and everyone at the resort was wonderful. Nicest wait staff ever! We couldn't give Basin Harbor a higher recommendation. It was the wedding of our dreams!

The relaxing experience begins miles before you arrive at the property as you coast down long and winding country roads with breathtaking mountain views in every direction. Once nestled into your cozy cottage, the welcoming service staff makes you feel at home. After a peaceful walk around the tranquil property, we enjoyed divine cuisine served by more amazing staff, then made s'mores by the firepit, and ended the evening sitting on our cottage's private porch overlooking beautiful Lake Champlain and sheltered from the soft rain by a protective canopy of tree branches above.

We brought a big, bright colorful Sikh/Indian wedding with all customs, traditions, food, and music, and BH went above and beyond to accommodate all the details that mattered so much to us. We were a new client profile - they knew it and we knew it and there was nothing but joy in the learning, creating and inventing that was needed to bring this to life. We also chose BH because we wanted a place that was woven into our history and future chapters we have yet to write. This place will forever feel like home for us, and the team will forever feel like family. We couldn’t be happier with our experience with BH and more grateful for this shared history!!!

Basin Harbor was the wedding venue of our dreams! Every step of the way we were supported, received timely responses, and every detail was executed perfectly. I couldn't recommend Basin Harbor more. Lauren and Anne are the most thoughtful planners, wedding planning can be a stressful event but they were so on top of everything that it put us (and our families) at ease. If you're on the hunt for a wedding venue - look no further. Basin Harbor has the beautiful and scenic location, the amenities, the numerous activities for everyone, and a great list of vendor partners (Ben & Jerry's ice cream truck was a hit!). Fabulous family vacation site. Lots to do for all ages. Biking easy for young children; they can bike all around the resort in their own..very safe. Ours were ages 10, 8, and 5. They loved the sandy beach, tubing behind a boat, jumping on the floating trampoline, and getting ice cream at the on/site shoppe. With golf and great food, the adults were happy too! We’ll be back next summer, for sure!

The setting is unbelievable, the accommodations are charming and comfortable, the staff is fully accessible should you need anything. The food is top notch, the breakfast is especially unique. Something fun for every type of person!

Missed the mark I booked Basin Harbor because it was reviewed well in a Forbes article on luxury pet friendly resorts. Well, if you do not expect perfection after paying almost $1k a night, carry on. If like me, you look for good quality accommodation, attentiveness, and consideration, here are reasons why I rate my stay at Basin Harbor just past average at 3 stars: What I love 1. The pet friendliness - patio and outdoor dining options meant my beloved pooch doesn’t need to be left alone. Water for the dog was served together with our tea and coffee at breakfast. There are so many doggy guests that you don’t feel out of place. 2. Dining options - good quality and variety at great price points. 3. Activities and Estate - very lovely grounds for walking around and where possible, dogs welcomed. We enjoyed the cruise we took around the lake and the many walks, including on trails, on the property. What disappointed me 1. False advertising?? - I booked the Pawish package and the webpage says it comes with a bunch of trinkets including collar, leash, travel bowls, a charm, and amenities. At check-in, I was handed a small box containing 2 doggy biscuits, a poop bag and a piece of printed pet rules. There was nothing else in the cottage for my dog. The next day, I called Front Desk and described what I received, and the response from Greg was “That’s it!” Nothing riles me up like false advertising does so I emailed the concierge who handled my reservation and was told it was a misunderstanding. Someone came by to drop off the leash, collar, dog bowl and another little box with 4 doggy biscuits, another poop bag and 2 pieces of badly cut paper printed with the pet rules. No sign of the charm. Never mind. We don’t need another souvenir…but I wished the items were at least nicely presented in a bag or something and made to feel special. 2. Stench in the cottage - we were placed in an extremely rustic, dark and dingy cottage that had a bad stench in both toilets. We arrived in the evening and were too tired to do anything. The next morning, when asked by Front Desk how our stay was going, I mentioned the smell and the person made a face but did not offer to look into it. So I emailed Concierge who sent someone to look into it. The person came, acknowledged the bad smell, sprayed disinfectant, and told me to call again if this doesn’t solve the issue. Of course it didn’t solve the issue. Once the smell of disinfectant dissipated, the smell was bad and I informed the concierge. Nothing was done and by the 2nd morning, I couldn’t take it anymore. I escalated the matter to the resort’s 5th Generation Host who finally offered to move us to a different cottage. This other cottage is brighter, more spacious, better located, does not have a stench, and I’m told is in a different rate category. So beware that paying close to $1k a night doesn’t guarantee a great cottage. 3. Disappointing dog beach - off a rocky patch at an incline, some dogs proba
