I am an expat in Dubai who have been coming in and out for business and leisure with my wife Liz and kids. The Ritz and Sofitel are our go tos. I must say, this time back, the quality of F&B has been going down and down the drain as well as the old and never refurbished rooms.. most especially last year and this year. The service is not as welcoming as before. When called, they seem disturbed. Staff have no emotions, and spirit in their smiles.. what happened? It is basic etiquette.. No longer the legendary ritz carlton i see in dubai.. doha.. al bustan.. or even bahrain.. before. I once dined in the mexican restaurant once on my last return and the staff were lifeless unlike before.. where we got to connect with the their team and felt as if we transported to Mexico, now.., our food was just served, the mexican ambience is gone. Moreover, we visited to la med and again.. bad quality of service. This time.. I approached one gentleman to complain about my experience unfortunately I did not get the name but he just kept nodding.. and pretentiously saying yes and of course, no action taken, i am 100% sure it was a manager as he was wearing a blue suit. I dont feel welcomed and feel uncomfortable with the quality of service unlike before. There are big changes that I cant seem to find out what but it feels different, unnatural and heavier. Spa was still okay but again, felt different and a bit empty? No warmth and genuine welcome. Again.. If you stay in a ritz, you do not have to ask.. it is given.
