"We absolutely love The Wayside! We try to go to St. Ignace at least once a year and always stay here. I will almost plan a vacation/trip around availability at The Wayside! We’ve stayed numerous other places in St. Ignace but The Wayside is always our top pick. The rooms are always clean & comfortable. Check-in has always gone smooth and it’s super convenient to get ferry tickets at time of check-in too. The bathrooms are updated and always clean with plenty of towels. There isn’t a pool or hot tub and they don’t offer breakfast but we never use those amenities anyway. The rooms do have a fridge and I believe a microwave (we never use it so I can’t remember exactly). I always look forward to our trips north!"

"This motel has a beautiful location right on the lake shore with a nice beach. Our room had a beautiful view of the water from two sides of the room. And we were able to park right next to our room so it was easy to run outside and get things from the car. The wood paneling in the room was really beautiful and the bed was nice and comfy. On the minus side, the space in the room was very limited both in the room itself and in the bathroom. This is an older motel and I'm assuming the lack of space is a reflection of when it was built. The shower is certainly a vintage one. There does seem to be a more modern section of the motel and I would assume that some of the negatives would not appear in the newer section but then you'd lose the beautiful view and being able to park right next to your room. One other negative is the driveway into the motel. It's very steep and it's hard to see what traffic is coming from the left as you exit."

"After we left on Monday June 22, following a two night stay on Tuesday June 23, there was a charge of 500.00 pending on my CC phones the property as I had already paid for the room. Accused us of smoking in the room which we absolutely did not. My friends son is a heart transplant recipient two years out, is on oxygen at night for sleep apnea who in their right mind would smoke 🤦‍♀️ His mom does smoke however, always outside with door closed and putting butts put in a cup with water. Ridiculous, room charge was expensive. Have never had an experience like this ever, will definitely not be staying here AGAIN."
