Mekong Riverview Hotel

We had a wonderful experience at the Mekong Riverview Hotel in Luang Prabang. This all-wood hotel retains the relaxed sensibility of another time. The room was very comfortable, with excellent a/c and other amenities. The hotel itself was very quiet. The only noise was the occasional evening beach party on the riverbank below the hotel. The hotel is situated near the end of the peninsula, where the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers come together. The views from the hotel and from the dining area are simply breathtaking. And, the hotel is very close to the Wat Xieng Thong Temple and the other nearby wats. We also want to give a shout out to the hotel staff, who went out of their way to assure that our needs were met. Among other things, they arranged our trip up the Mekong on a private boat, transportation to the Kuang Si waterfall complex, and transportation to the airport on our departure. In every case, we had excellent personal service, and the cost was less than we would have paid if we had booked it ourselves.

We spent 4 nights there at the end of February in 2 deluxe riverview rooms with balcony and absolutely loved it. I have been to Luang Prabang before (several times, but never at this hotel) and should I return to Luang Prabang, I will also return to Mekong Riverview Hotel ! The loation is perfect, at the end of the peninsula in the charming and UNESCO protected old town of Luang Prabang. Beautiful Wat Xienthong is right next door (in fact - from the entrance of our rooms, we could almost touched the ceremonial boat in the Wat). Everything is in walking distance, and if you dont feel like walking, you can use the free bicycles, or the old style electro vehicle can drop you off where you want. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are charming and decorated with a lot of love for detail, and with everything that you need. The riverview restaurant which belongs to the hotel, is fantastic. Breakfast is served there, and its the best spot in LP !!!! So beautiful and peaceful, alone for that I would return there. There is a small breakfast buffet including really good croissants and bread plus some "ready to order" items, like noodle soup, which I enjoyed every morning. What a way to start the day !

Lovely room in authentic Lao style with balcony overlooking Mekong River. Staff very friendly and helpful. Short walk to central area but lots to see near hotel. Only small criticism is the low water pressure in the shower but not a major issue. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for three nights in Dec and really enjoyed it! The staff was very helpful and friendly and our room was comfortable and spacious with a nice balcony overlooking the Mekong River. The location at the end of the peninsula was ideal. Very quiet and peaceful. And, while it’s a short walk to restaurants, wats and the night market area, it was nice to have the option of a quick ride in the hotel’s electric vehicle to be dropped off somewhere. The restaurant sits at the convergence of the Nam Khan and Mekong Rivers and has a beautiful view, especially in the morning when the mist is in the mountains across the Mekong. Definitely a place I would recommend.

A First class Hotel. Outstanding staff, great location. Amazing views of the Mekong.. I used their free bikes and rides to the Night Market,,, and relaxed at morning breakfast overlooking the Mekong. Beautiful room and location.. the place to be. I would stay again in a second.

We enjoyed very much our stay at Mekong Riverview Hotel. The rooms are tastefully designed and decorated in traditional style (beautiful wooden floors and furniture), but with modern features. The rooms are kept very clean. Our room was a bit weird with the toilet separated from the bathroom sink, requiring a walk from one room to the other to wash hands after using the toilet. The location, overlooking the Mekong River, is great and our rooms had nice views of the river. The area is a bit noisy in the early evening, with people partying on river boats and in riverside restaurants, but not terrible and not running late into the night. The hotel offers some nice touches, like free use of bikes and transport to the citty-center and markets, and free mini-bar restocked every day. The breakfast included with our room was fresh, with varied choices to be ordered off their menu. Good, but not fantastic. The staff were all friendly and helpful. One negative was that the television in our room was not working and the staff said repairmen could only come on Monday (after we checked in on Saturday), but even on Monday, the TV was still not repaired and there was no offer of any discount or compensations for our room not having a working television. Also, when we arranged for transport to the train station, the staff charged us US$20; while I later reread the messages from the hotel and realized that they had earlier informed us the price would be US$18 (not a big deal, but that is not how business should be conducted). Overall, the minor negatives did not detract from our overall positive experience. Our stay was very pleasant, and we liked the hotel a lot, but there is room for it to be even better.

The Mekong Riverside is a real jewel. Noi and everyone couldn't have been more accommodating. Rooms are very comfortable. The restaurant is such a beautiful location to e joy the views of the river, and the food is also first class

This hotel was excellent. Noi and his staff were outstanding. Their service could not have been better. They would help with anything that I needed. They arranged great transportation for myself and two friends to Nong Khiaw in the north and a return. Upon my return I also stayed there. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. For an added treat, the beds can have the head or foot area, raised and lowered with power. It is a short walk into town, and the hotel also provides transport in their own open air electric cars. All in all 10/10.

The hotel is located in a great location; close to all the eateries, coffee shops, night/morning markets. Our balcony view is overlooking the Mekong river which we enjoyed the sunset/sunrise daily. Spacious clean room with items in the refrigerator are complimentary to our stay including shampoo, conditioners, body gel, comb, shaver, toothbrushes, slippers and robes. Delicious breakfast is provided daily across from the hotel at the viewpoint cafe which includes fresh fruits, croissant, crepes, pho, omelette, and coffee. Also, the hotel provides excellent laundry wash services at $4 per kilogram (2.2 pounds) with the same day turnaround time. Noi and Bounpheng at the hotel has been outstanding with their service in helping us book our tours and arrangements for transportation to/from the airport. Very pleased with our stay; until next time.
