I’d like to start by saying that every member of staff we encountered was lovely and very friendly. Certainly an asset. The room, in fact the hotel in general, was also very clean. That said, the ‘double room’ didn’t even fit a double bed. It was a three-quarter bed, tucked up against the wall so if the person on the inside needed the toilet in the night, they’d have to climb over or wake the other person. In the end, concern about waking someone up wasn’t a problem as the bed was rock hard. Honestly, I felt like I was sleeping on a plank of wood. It was so uncomfortable. We barely slept a wink all night. The room was so small, the door stop was constantly in my way and I kicked it several times. There just isn’t space to move. The bathroom situation was awful. It’s a glass swing door - not exactly private. Although there is a frosted panel, you can still see through it. The door being a glass swing door type affair means it’s not totally flush and I want privacy in a bathroom, I don’t want anyone to be able to hear, see or smell what’s going on, and I don’t want to be able to see, hear or smell someone else’s bathroom situations. Rooms would be small but adequate for one person - to market them as double rooms is ridiculous. The lift wasn’t working for us either which wasn’t the end of the world for us as we’re perfectly able, but we didn’t have any pre-warning and it seems as though it’s been out of order for a while. Overall, it’s a shame that the rooms let this place down. They’re not double rooms at all. Beds are uncomfortable but the staff are lovely.
