Avonmore Hotel

This is such a poor hotel, the room was too hot even though we had a fan we couldn’t keep the windows open as we was ground floor level and someone could have easy climb in. Outdated decor carpets ripped and curtains hanging off the wall, ripped wall paper. Toilet barely hanging onto the wall, very tiny bathroom with no windows, we was shown to our room before it was cleaned who does that… Location was ok but was about 20 minute walk to some places.

Brilliant location. Very close to Kings Cross and Euston train stations and tube and also Russel Square for picadilly underground. The hotel is on a quiet leafy crescent so it is a lovely oasis of calm. Within the crescent is a shaded little public seating area between the tennis courts. There are plenty of places to eat and shop just round the corner. No need for breakfast in the hotel. Friendly, helpful staff who buzzed us in as soon as they saw us at the front door. Pleasant well maintained room. All the facilities we needed already in the wardrobe both a fan and a small electric, heter good quality hairdryer. All in working order. Everything spotlessly clean. Nice toiletries and tea / coffee provided. House keeping is on request and free of charge. (We didn't need to use this). Overall outstanding value for money.

Had a one night stay. Room very clean and a good size. Staff very friendly. Downside - No lift and the stairs are very narrow so you need to watch your step. Rooms could do with a freshen up (net curtains were a bit tattered).

Terrible experience, unsafe and no assistance! AVOID IF YOU CAN. I arrived at the property at 5:30 pm. I was given a code for the main entrance, which worked. My room was the only room (out of about 10) without an electronic keypad, relying instead on a physical key but I was given a code instead and the key wasn’t provided. I contacted the property via Booking messages and initially received replies, but they never answered the phone, even when Booking tried to call them. I was sent on a “treasure hunt” to look for the key in a desk drawer near the shared kitchen and on the fridges of two shared kitchens, but the key was nowhere to be found. BTW Leaving a room key in a drawer or in a shared kitchen area accessible to anyone is unacceptable from a safety perspective. I remained flexible and suggested a temporary solution, offering to stay in a smaller room for three people instead of the five booked, as the rest of my group was arriving the following day. This was ignored. After hours of waiting and multiple follow up messages without answer, I was told they “understand the urgency” and they were “checking with their team” and then received no further communication. I was left outside until 10:30 pm. The issue was resolved only thanks to Booking, which after 3 phone calls (each with a 20 minute wait) refunded me and helped me book another hotel late in the evening. Poor organisation, unsafe key handling, and non-existent customer support. Not recommended, avoid if possible.

Cheap (ish) for London. It's a converted townhouse so rooms small, but clean and functional. Decor is dated, but when you're out and about all day and you just need somewhere to sleep...perfect. Clean bathroom, comfortable beds. Be warned there is no Aircon, so the rooms can get stuffy and hot.

It was fine for what we needed. If you don't mind lots of steep stairs, the attic room where we were was small but adequate. Rather dated but clean and friendly.

Good size room for London, very helpful staff, decor a little aged but very clean.
