The Knaresborough Inn - the Inn Collection Group

What a great place. We stayed here as a stopover on our way to London. We stayed in the Dowager Cottage - which is a separate cottage to the main building and was spacious and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were superb / great pub food - highly recommend the ‘toad in the hole’. Cute and quaint.

Room 103 was immaculate - spacious, clean, tidy and very well presented - faultless. Overall the pub style atmosphere was extremely pleasant and welcoming. Staff very helpful, though some of the younger ones should stop chewing gum when looking after customers! We liked the idea of getting a drinks voucher for skipping room clean up on the Monday night!

The room was adequate, a compact double.The young man at check-in was friendly. The evening meal in the bar was poor . A burnt “ Toad in the Hole “and overdone , dry scampi and chips. Why serve food like that? Instead of having the room serviced guests are offered a drinks voucher for two drinks from the bar. I opted for the voucher and later ordered our two drinks , single measures , nothing out of the ordinary. On presenting my voucher I was told I would have to pay for the drinks as I was only entitled to have beer or wine with the voucher . I advised I had not been made aware of this when I opted for the voucher, nor did the voucher state any limitations on drinks. The response was , like the food, poor . I was told, by the bar staff and young woman on reception, their policy re. drinks voucher had changed a month ago . While this was of interest to them , as a customer , I did not need to know about policy changes . I should have been advised , prior to making a choice re. room serviced or not , on the limitations of the offer. It should also be printed on the voucher. Then I could have made an informed decision . Given the circumstances I would have expected the staff to honour the voucher as it was presented. But they obviously preferred not to and to pour the two drinks down the drain. Too silly. Extremely poor customer service .

Stayed for 1 night. The room, dinner and breakfast were superb. The service from all the staff was fantastic.

We had a room in the annex. When we got into the room one of the lights was flickering,. We reported this to reception, it took 2 requests to actually get it fixed. Our meal the first evening took over 40 minutes to arrive, my fried egg completely covered the tiny gammon steak. My wife's meal and mine were both very tasty though. The 2nd night our friends who live locally joined us for a meal. The first 3 meals we booked were not available, and the fourth a curry they didn't have any naan bread. This is a total of 4 meals unavailable on a very small menu, which i think is very poor. The 3rd night we wisely chose to eat out at a local Italian that was very nice. When we went for breakfast we were given the strange option of having 2 free drinks are have our room serviced, we chose to have the room serviced, needless to say the servicing did not take place, so when we told them we were given a voucher for free drinks, again not at all happy with the service. The breakfast was good and offered a good selection, however on the last day at 9.30am whilst we were still eating they started clearing the facilities away, my wife had to stop them to get some milk for out tea, again not very good. We certainly wont be staying here again nor in any other hotel within the group, the whole experience was appalling. We were not even asked at the checkout about our stay, just a thank you for the card, we didnt comment and just left.

A very basic hotel that doesn’t deliver against how it advertises as part of The Inn Collection. Location is good and rooms are ok. Staff are very young and inexperienced but tried their best and very bubbly. Food is really poor & don’t order the £13 cheese board as you’ll be very disappointed…see photo. Stayed in other Inn Collection hotels and this is bottom of the group in my opinion.

Lovely looking Inn in a prime position in Knaresborough by the river. We were welcomed and allowed to check in early as room was ready which is always nice. We were in the annex cottage which was a self contained old cottage and very quaint inside although a modern shower. Unfortunately by the time we were unpacked and settled we discovered the TV couldn't get a watchable signal despite lots of fiddling around with it . Lady inside was unable to fix this at 6pm as the handyman had gone home although offered us another room which we decided to decline as too much effort to move, but i wondered if no one else had ever complained. Able to watch the News on an IPAd luckily. Pleasant drinks in the garden and moved inside for a lovely meal. They seemed to forget about our dessert order but we got it in the end when prompted. But a very nice meal. The breakfast was a delicious full cooked buffet. All in all a very nice place despite the TV issue.

We stayed here with our two dogs. All the staff were as friendly to our dogs as they were to us and made us feel very welcome. Couldn’t fault anything and will definitely stay at the Knaresborough Inn when we are in this part of the country again.

Room was very good. Comfortable and clean. Easy to check in and out. There’s some lovely spots within walking distance from the hotel. Breakfast sausages were good. I liked the cold water jar during the day. Food was tasty with a good variety. Restaurant was short staffed, which happens everywhere so not a complaint. The 2 young bar staff handled it very well and worked hard - good job lads! Unfortunately their manager wasn’t quite as smiley and could’ve done without the muttering under her breath.
