Iskay Boutique Hostel

Amazing Hotel with a beautiful Rooftop and good Food. We even did an early checkin and could store our main luggage for a few days when we were at the Amazonas. Staff was really friendly and the rooms were big and clean. The Location is also perfect. Safe Neighbourhood with a lot of shopping possibilities and restaurants.

The double room was really big, the bed comfortable and everything very clean. We had a view over La Paz from our room. For breakfast in the rooftop bar on the 8th floor we had the best bread we had in more than over two months of travelling through Southamerica. Location just next to the witches market is great! Check-out time is noon, what left us some time for packing and getting ready.

This review is for the restaurant Iskay rooftop. Myself (from the US) and two friends (US and Austrian) had a wonderful experience eating a late dinner here! First of all, the ambiance is wonderful - the rooftop is decorated very well and has heaters so you stay warm even on a chilly night. There is also an incredible view of the city! Second, the food was great - we all got the pesto pasta which was delicious and well priced. Third, the hospitality and service was the best I have had at a restaurant in La Paz! The food came quickly and Johnny (think he is a manager?) sat with us for a while and answered our many questions about La Paz - it was an incredibly interesting and fun conversation!! Would highly recommend!

Really enjoyed my stay here. Friendly staff , good free breakfast, and a comfortable dorm with a good bathroom. I always love dorms with curtains. The restaurant area on the top floor is great and has a good view as well. I got laundry done, the price was reasonable and it was fast.

Absolute WORST hostel..I don't know how they have the reviews. We ended up calling the POLICE. They scammed us into paying for damage that was already there. The door handle fell off the first night, which we reported and was fixed after, we asked them to check CCTV for peace of mind (we'd had someone try get into our room in Mexico) to make sure it wasn't someone trying to get in - somehow they used this request against us and said we lied? We also informed the staff of belongings left behind by previous occupants and that the bathroom was used and dirty, none of this was resolved and I had to personally hand over the jacket for them to take it as they refused to take it out of the room. The morning of check out we were hit with a bill for a toilet seat that was broken before we arrived. They then suggested we planted the jacket? Why I don't know. It turns out the managers daughter stayed there before us.... The police even told us to call them again if we were threatened. We have it all on video, including the receptionist screaming at us and touching me. In the end the police had the hotel and us pay half because they had no proof it was us and we needed to catch a bus. I've honestly never been treated so badly. I've been in South America for a year and this is the only accomodation to act in such a weird, unhinged, crazy manner. They keep responding to reviews with weird scenarios yet I still have the video and photos as evidence. They even pretended they called the police, but again, I have it on video me asking for the police. Stay here if you want to be scammed. Weirdest most stressful experience ever.

We had an excellent stay at Iskay Boutique Hostel. We stayed twice here and our private room looked awesome (Bolivian decor) and the views were spectacular. The restaurant on the top floor has good meals at a decent price. The hostel is located near the witches' market and all the colourful shops and is just a few around the corner from the San Francisco church. The staff were also excellent and couldn't do enough to make sure our stay was perfect. We will be staying here again when we return to La Paz.
