Balmacara Hotel

De netheid van de kamer is verschrikkelijk. Er zitten meerdere haren op de lakens, bloed op de deken en schuim op het kussen. Ik vermoed dat ze de lakens en de dekens helemaal niet wassen. Behalve de hygiëne is al het andere in orde

Hotel heeft een mooie frisse uitstraling en de kamer met zeezicht die we hadden op de eerste verdieping was veel groter dan verwacht (kamer 47). Zeer schoon en de douche was echt goed, hoewel het een tijdje duurde voordat het warme water er doorheen trok. Sommige instructies over het werken met de tv zouden handig zijn geweest, maar kwamen er uiteindelijk en met een kamer van die grootte zou een kleine bank of comfortabele fauteuils geweldig zijn om te zitten en te genieten van het geweldige uitzicht (ik ben erg kieskeurig!). Goed ontbijt.

I LOVED this little hotel in Kyle, near the Eilean Donan castle. It is so clean and so comfortable and staff was so nice. I wish I could have stayed longer. And the area is so beautiful. This is a must stay if you’re in the area. Great little gateway spot to the Isle of Skye too! Another must visit.

The staff were very hospitable and we felt well taken care of. The rooms were clean with incredulous comfortable beds. Thank you for a wonderful stay

Staff at the hotel are very nice and are helpful, including laundry service at no charge. Breakfast and especially dinner were excellent meals. The chef for dinner is really, really good.

Super King bed was actually two twins set next to each other, not joined in anyway. This made a regular king size if you overlook the separate mattresses, did not receive the bed advertised. Bare plaster on the walls. Holes in the floor. Cables sticking out of holes in hallway. Parking lot is no where near large enough. Every sound can be heard between bedrooms, the hallway, and the road outside. Felt like a scam for the price paid.

4 stars for this hotel seems completely out of sync with the hotel attributes (or, lack of such). Not only could you hear when the neighbouring guests used the toilets, but the drain in our room would sound like we flushed the toilet ourselves. When guests upstairs walked around it sounded like the ceiling was coming down on you. When guests next door sneezed, it was as if they were right next to you. Although the room offered a temperature control, this was pointless as there was no ventilation. The room did include a safe, however according to the hotel reception the safes “did not function anywhere in the hotel”. The bar did not even offer a menu - they just pointed to the liquor bottles and told you to decide what you wanted. Restaurant food was the worst we’ve ever experienced. The hotel was ramshackle, only worsened by the plastic-like materialised used on every inch of every surface (which were worn down). The price was absolutely outrageous compared to the hotel quality, and it is simply unbelievable that it qualifies for four stars - not least when comparing to the other hotel we stayed at on the Isle of Skye). We felt completely exploited as the hotel clearly took advantage of the peak season to set prices at a rate nowhere near what would qualify as reasonable. Cannot recommend this hotel to anyone else.

Exterior is dated, inside is updated. Rooms are very small. Dinner was a good surprise.
