The New Hotel Kumamoto

Nice spacious room. Very close to Kumamoto station only 5 minutes walk. Also nearby tram station.

Strategy location. Walking distance to JR station. We book the room with breakfast included and good variety of breakfast.

The location is very good, 200m out of Kumamoto JR station, helpful front desk and very clean room. Many restaurants in Amu mall, and tram is just in front of JR station. Toyota rent a car is about 50m across the road, we are satisfied with our stay.

Location is excellent, just next to JR station but room is a bit small and old.

Biked a full service room ie daily cleaning but we were given only fresh towels and bed wasn’t made when we return at end of day. Location is excellent as across is AMU plaza and the bus stop 7 to go Takachiho Gorge is just outside the hotel. Hotel is 3 mins from JR station. Just exit and turn left and follow the pavement. Google map will make u go the other way in a circle

The location is very nearby the JR station. The facilities are complete. Nice service!

## Disappointing Smoke Odor & Room Change Fee **1. Unbearable Smoke Odor in Smoking Room:** Upon arrival, I was dismayed to find my designated smoking room permeated by a strong smoke odor. Despite the air conditioning running, the smell persisted and worsened, seemingly circulated by the airflow itself. While I understand the presence of smoking areas, the ventilation in my room was clearly inadequate, rendering it unusable. I immediately contacted the staff seeking a room change or upgrade (willing to pay the difference). However, I was informed there were no alternatives available, which contradicted information I saw on Trip.com showing available rooms. This left me frustrated and forced to find alternative accommodations for the night. **2. Unfair Room Change Fee on Second Night:** On the second night, I finally managed to secure a non-smoking room within the hotel. Disappointingly, I was charged an additional fee for this room change, despite the initial room being unsuitable due to the smoke odor. I believe this charge is unfair, considering the circumstances and the inconvenience I experienced initially. Overall, my stay at hotel was deeply disappointing due to the unaddressed smoke odor issue and the unexpected room change fee. I hope the hotel will take steps to improve ventilation in smoking rooms and revisit their policy on room change fees, particularly in situations where the initial room is unsuitable due to factors beyond the guest's control.

Clean room with stuff in the room in good condition. I enjoy my stay here. Staff is polite too!
