An Bothar Pub

Recently walking some of the Dingle Way I was booked to stay at Morris and Tomas' Guesthouse. The day was slightly wet, a storm brewing in Cork, and in UK, so arriving wet and blown through the front door, welcomed with hot leek and potato soup and homemade brown bread to die for! After warming up, the night unfolded in the pub, and then everyone rallied around and we watch the Rugby cup All Blacks game with a local Cronins cider (from Co.Kerry) and huge portion of dinner. Comfy bed, & warm rooms with amazing views out over the three sisters, and down towards Brandon Creek (google this for history). Amazing breakfast spread the following day, with local yoghurt (I downed it all) from "Dingle Farm" in Beag - friends of Morris. Thanks so much team, loved the stay, and may be back!!

Located beyond Dingle in a rural area, this family-run guesthouse offers good quality en-suite rooms and a fine breakfast, with fresh fruit, eggs, cereals etc. There is a guest lounge with scenic views, and good walking, including of course Mount Brandon. The pub offers food also, and again the standard is high, better than one might expect in a pub. The regular musicians, playing mostly Irish traditional music, are immensely entertaining. Certainly recommend this guesthouse and pub, especially for tourists seeking good lodging, food and entertainment, in a remote and beautiful part of Ireland.

We stayed two nights and it was perfect. The location is about 12 km from Dingle and a great place if you're walking the mountain passes or just want to enjoy the beautiful Kerry countryside. We were there for the Friday night when they had traditional musicians in so we had a great night. I hope you like it as much as we did.

Excellent location, wonderful food, very friendly staff. Cozy dinner by the fire was superb. They were SO accommodating with a difficult circumstance that I had! Thanks so much. We'll stay here again!

Had dinner in an bothar last night and the food was amazing. Delicious crab claws to start with and the most perfectly cooked steak that I have eaten in a long time. My wife had chicken wings for starters which were lovely and a beautiful fillet of fresh hake for mains. Excellent service too. Also Muiris serves the best pint of Gunness around.

An Bothar Pub and Guesthouse is an absolutely wonderful place to stay. It is run by a family who could not be more friendly and welcoming to their guests. The rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable. Since we were hiking and had no car, we ate in the the small restaurant which was bustling with customers. The food was really good--just what we needed after a long day of hiking. The owners have musicians 3-4 nights a week so we stayed after dinner to listen to some lovely Irish music and watch the patrons dance! It was really fun! We went to bed before the music was over and could not hear the band from our room. The breakfast the next morning was tasty with lots of options to choose from depending on what you want to eat. We would most definitely recommend An Bothar to any travelers on the Dingle Peninsula and would most definitely stay there again on a return trip to Ireland.

I stayed there when walking the Dingle way, and had a wonderful stay! The rooms were very comfortable, breakfast was tasty, and best of all was the staff, who went out of their way to help guests and make them feel welcome.

We truly had an amazing time at this lovely guest house and pub tucked into the Irish countryside. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff, especially Morris and Kat were the friendliest and most attentive we encountered on our trip. Morris was even thoughtful enough to arrange for my niece to bottle feed some of the lambs. The pub is small and intimate and dining area large and serving excellent food.

We didn't stay at An Bothar, but we enjoyed the pub twice. It's a classic, but with great food and even better, very friendly service. Cait waited on us both nights and was wonderful. whatever else you eat, (and the roast of the day has high recommendations, although I had prawns and noodles, a new favorite), don't miss the fruit crumbles and local ice cream. I'll be back.
