Huab Lodge & Bush Spa

lovely place, very friendly owners. Great food and a perfect service. If you can arrange a stay at huab it is like coming home and visiting old friends. It was our best stop in Namibia, we have been there from 2012 until now several times and when ever possible we we will come back.

The owners are very friendly, informative and passionate about their farm and environment. A superbly relaxing lodge with delicious food, especially the bobotie! Wonderful to soak in the hot spring, or plunge in the pool after a walk or drive down the Huab river bed. Coming across the graceful desert elephants was a treat to behold. I highly recommend, but do stay for at least three days if you can!

We had an extraordinary stay at the Huab Lodge. Our host were so friendly and we felt very welcomed. We had a nice view from our room, the tour we did was amazing and the service and food was also perfect. Thank you for having us, we will definitely come again!

After 4 weeks and 11 lodges while touring Namibia, our whole family voted Huab the lodge that topped our list of accommodations. Personally managed by the owners with their unique knowledge of the environment, the wildlife they share it with, their passion for the preservation of the Desert Adapted Elephant and commi**ent to good service made this a totally unique experience and place to stay. Do not miss Dion’s day drive (even if you’re on a limited budget) up the ephemeral Huab river bed to find 'his' elephants - you may even see them climbing a rocky mountain slope for the precious water they seek - what a sight! With coffee and rusks mid morning and lunch cooked over the fire in the open, it was the best bush experience even for us old Africa hands! On your return, plunge into the natural hot spring spa surrounded by bush to refresh before dinner at the ‘family table’. The unique bungalows were super comfy and roomy but the lack of fly screens meant we couldn't have all the windows open which made it too hot to sleep well. However there were floor fans in the rooms to help you out. We know the fly screens will be replaced in the doors and windows as soon as the new owners can catch up with all the overdue maintenance and repairs they have inherited. Well done Dion and Lydia, we will be back!

Very friendly and wart hosts, good guide on the toor to the elephants, very good kitchen, nice location, simple but clean and spacy rooms. It is worth to stay at least 2 days, and yes it takes its time to drive to Huab Lodge.

Last august we stayed 2 nights at the Huab lodge. what an amazing place to stay, beautiful accomodation, the trip to see the elephants is great, a warm welcome when we arrived. We really recommend this lodge for a visit.

I have traveled throughout Namibia more than a dozen times and can say with authority, the Huab Lodge is a gem hidden in Damaraland. Our visit last month was my first, but there will be more in the future. It's location is very remote which accentuates how unique this place is, with the hot springs, breath-taking lodge building, individual units with architecture that mirrors the mountains that surround them, an intriguing labrynth and elephant viewing, using the dry bed of the Huab River as your road. Peaceful, with all the modern comforts, but having a sence of being taken back in time, contemplative, enabling you to focus inward on the meaningful things in life. Lidia and Dione made us feel like family as we sat around the long candle-lit dinner table with other guests. The food and friendly service were exceptional. A remote and beautiful place with wonderful people. Book early before others discover this special place.

This was our first visit to Huab Lodge and it exceeded our expectations. Situated on the bank of ephemeral Huab river, the view of the surrounding mountains and trees is exceptional. Our hosts Deon and Lidia Brummer went out of their way to make us feel at home. We took the full day riverbed trip with Deon as our guide and his knowledge and enthusiasm of the area, its flora and fauna, was contageous. The breakfasts and dinners (around communal table) were delicious and Salomo the chef presented his dishes with enthusiasm. The lodge has eight double chalets, which means it is not overcrowded and this makes the nature experience more exclusive. We cant wait to visit Huab lodge again.
