If there was a Best Western or Holiday Inn on the building you wouldn't have seen any difference. There was little rustic or national park style about the rooms or lobby, and amenities (pool, workout room, breakfast) were non-existent. The lodge is located in a village setting with the meal provider (very weak in COVID times), post office, grocery store, and camp store nearby. The concessionaire also offers cabins and tent cabins in the same setting, but having tried those as well I would not recommend either. The park office is also in the village, but its service was limited by COVID. Be aware that our room (all rooms?) adjoined another, so there is some lack of soundproofing in that connection. We had to unplug the small refrigerator in our room because it was so noisy we could not sleep. The shower stream was pitiful, so a long process after hiking. One plus, there was a places to read in the room, other than sitting on the bed. All national parks point out that phone and internet is limited - but there is no excuse for it in a lodge. Routers and points of contact can be set up easily, but are not an expense the concessionaires are willing to make (even though it would be passed on).
