Squam Lake Inn

If you are looking for an ideal New England getaway, this is the inn for you. The personalized service makes your stay as comfortable as possible. The innkeepers, Brendan and Molly are warm, welcoming and ensure all your needs are met. The property has wonderfully appointed rooms and the location, across from Squam Lake and up the street from town is an ideal location.

This was our first visit to Squam Lake Inn in Holderness, NH. My husband & I stayed for 2 nights (a Saturday & Sunday) in the White Oak Room & paid $638.82. CHECK-IN: Super simple. Self check-in instructions were provided via text. • Amenities: Ceiling fan, coffee maker, hair dryer, one luggage rack & three hangers. No microwave or mini fridge. There's a mini fridge in the main house, but you have to go downstairs, outside & back upstairs to get to it. Does not keep drinks cold; only cool. Convenient for guests staying in the main house, but very inconvenient for guests in the White Oak room. • Bath: Plenty of hot water & medium pressure. • Bed: Very comfortable bed & pillows • Cell service/WiFi: No T-Mobile service, but WiFi works very well. • Cleanliness: Immaculate • Decor: Lovely, but four chairs were unnecessary. • Heating/cooling: Room temp stayed comfortable, but one of the floor radiators made a clanking noise the entire visit, even after turning the temp down to 68°. • Housekeeping: Offered but not needed • Sound: As expected at a B&B. In addition to the clanking noise, you can hear doors slamming shut, people occasionally talking & cars driving by. • TV: Average size. We liked the streaming capabilities. • View: Road in front of the B&B • Other: - Lighting: A flood light [lighting up the B&B's sign] faces directly into one of the bedroom windows. The shade covering it doesn't do much for those of us used to sleeping in a dark room. Thankfully, it automatically shuts off at approximately 11:30 PM. The B&B adjusted the shut-off time to a bit earlier during our second night. - I'd recommend adding a full-length mirror to the room. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Polite & professional. We liked the texting option. There's a chance you won't interact with the owners at all. FOOD: • Breakfast: Excellent. You have a choice of the day's special or eggs. Food is hot & delicious; however, portions are a bit small, so we were hungry shortly after. The weekend server is an absolute delight! • Dinner @ Inn Kitchen + Bar: Made a 7:00 PM reservation. Arrived 10 minutes early but was told by the hostess we were assigned a specific table (vs first available), & the guests were still eating. We waited 25 minutes to be seated. We ordered shrimp 'n grits, four scallops, no appetizers or drinks (only water) & paid $70.53 + $21 tip. Ouch. LOCATION/PARKING: • Location: Lovely little town. However, amenities are limited. If you're looking for convenience, the Lincoln area seems to offer a bit more. • Parking: Complimentary; however, the parking lot can get full with restaurant patrons & B&B guests, so there were several cars parked on the side of the road when we arrived on Saturday. Would I recommend/stay again? Yes, but not in the White Oak room unless a mini fridge is added.

We recently had an important family gathering at the Squam Lake Inn. Molly and her crew did everything imaginable to make it lovely and unforgettable! The food, the setting and the staff were amazing. We are so grateful to them for going the extra mile for us.

Not on the lake but in walking distance of it, this is a lovely place to stay. Beautifully decorated with some nice pieces and a good ambience. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. The bar/patio is pleasant, and wine and beer are good. Liked being able to make tea/coffee on the landing. Effusive staff, eager to please, but a request to sort an ill-closing bathroom not sorted. Dinner not available on Mondays/Tuesdays. But when we ate in, it was good.

Lovey stay at the Inn. Restaurant was quite good. Would like a few more breakfast options but otherwise simply wonderful!

A group of dear old friends stayed here for a reunion and it was lovely! Adorable, well appointed, clean rooms - comfortable beds. Food was amazing - breakfast was delicious and dinner was the best!! The home made cookies every afternoon were delicious and just added to the overall comfort of the Inn. Tay, heart and soul of the Inn, did everything from making beds to serving us wine and food! She is the very best!! Molly and Brenden - our hosts - were present and engaged and their love and dedication to their Inn was evident in everything at the Inn- from the gardens, to guest rooms to food to decorations! We will be back!

Every detail is wonderful. Gardens, fresh flowers, amenities and cookies every afternoon! But it is the staff who made our visit so wonderful. Tay greeted us cheerfully throughout the day and made us an outstanding breakfast every morning. Our server at dinner was Taylor and she let us take a breather after dinner and brought us our dessert later on the porch. Very relaxed vibe.

It has always been a dream to visit Squam Lake/The setting for "On Golden Pond" and the Squam Lake Inn provided our magical backdrop! We had a late night arrival for our anniversary but were delighted by the ease of entry and a waiting bottle of Prosecco to this most charming inn! Our room was on the second floor and had the most comfortable bed, sheets, and blankets to fall into. The charming setting of the room was only the beginning to the beautiful setting in and outside of the inn. Our room looked out over a little red barn and the morning breakfast/conversation with guests and the owner were delightful. Perhaps the best thing of all was the amazing dinner we enjoyed on our anniversary night right at the Inn. My husband had the salmon and I had a delectable honey-dipped fried chicken. The real show-stopper here, though, was the cheese board. It was beautifully arranged with three of the tastiest cheeses anyone could have ever eaten. Our complimentary anniversary champagne was truly the icing on the cake. Special things we experienced in the area included the must-see Nature Center/loon tour of Squam Lake, a visit to the covered bridge and beach in nearby Ashland on Little Squam, and a trip to Walter's Basin just down the street for delicious clam chowder and Manhattans. Thank you for making our dream visit to "On Golden Pond" so wonderful!

We had the best time. The room was wonderful. The atmosphere is marvelous, mainly because all staff are very attentive and show that they love the work. And that is the result of wonderful owners who take everything very personal. Thank you!
