Waterside by Spinnaker Resorts

Been here last 5 yrs. Always a great place to stay and location is perfect. Good pools for kids and adults!

Old appliances and dirty carpet. Great location close to beach, restaurants and shopping. No pressure to view timeshare for sale.

We are owners and have been for a number of years. This is not our only timeshare, we own in NYC, Maui and Florida. BUT IT IS THE ONLY RESORT THAT CHARGRS FOR BATH LINENS. We are in a one bedroom unit that sleeps up to four people and we had four sets of bath towels. We are here for a week. When we went to get clean towels, we were told there was a charge or we could wash them ourselves, like I came on vacation to do laundry. Oh, and did I mention that when we arrived on Sunday, the elevator was not working and we were expected to haul our luggage up four flights of stairs.

Enjoyed our stayed. Location excellent with sights and great restaurants. Friendly staff and nice pools.

I stayed in my brother’s condo @ Waterside for a week and enjoyed every minute of it. He’s in the 55 series which is .3 miles from the beach and overlooking the large pool at Waterside. I kept my car parked in the parking garage, which filled up quickly, but I was always blessed to have a spot when I left. The condo was very nice and not dated like many mentioned in other reviews. Then again, I guess my perspective is different…you’re going on a “beach” vacation at a resort & not the Ritz Carlton. Who cares if the furniture is dated? As long as it is clean and comfy I have no complaints. I had everything I needed, microwave, toaster, fridge w/ ice maker washer & dryer etc. Didn’t really need a stove because who’s cooking on vacation anyway? An air fryer would have been nice though. My condo provided all the essentials I needed, even had laundry detergent to wash your clothes. Again, I was blessed because my condo area was quiet and people were respectful of quiet times at night. I had a comfy king size bed and two twins in my guest room. Slept like a newborn after a bottle! When I checked in, of course it was like getting through the paparazzi with the mess they were trying to sell you before you even walked to the front desk. I had no problem and after a hard NO, I was quickly escorted to the front desk. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Besides the main attraction, “The Beach,” I really enjoyed renting and riding my bike throughout the island. This city has EXCELLENT bike paths everywhere! To me, this is the BEST way to get around and view the island, and to keep your parking spot. :) I recommend “Wheelz” for bicycle rental because they DELIVER your bikes & pick them up for an additional $10 charge. I rented a bike for 3 days for $43 + the delivery charge and was on my way! The provide you with a free lock and a basket on front of your bike if you ask for it. The bike paths are absolutely beautiful! You ride over bridges, go through paths that have trees as a canopy cover, past beautiful churches and neighborhoods and can stop off at any of the restaurants and stores along the way. Back to the resort, they have two pools, one a medium size and the other large with a huge waterfall. I’m grateful I was by the large one. The large pool is not deep but deep enough to swim in if needed. It’s 4.9ft deep and they have a kiddy pool and a hot tub. Many people go to the large pool but it was never crowded because everyone was working on their tan in the pool side chairs. They have a large propane grill that I did use and a griddle right next to it. Oh and before I forget, theirs a nice swing hidden as you walk down that street by the office. A good place to read for all the introverts. ;) Overall, I was very pleased with this resort, the amenities & the staff. I enjoyed every minute of my “Me”-cation. :)

We came for a preview and sat through a 90 minute presentation with a promise of a visa gift card, dough dollars, 2 $50 hotel vouchers and 3 vacation packages for 4 days and 3 nights. First, the Waterside is in need of many updates. Rooms and furniture is very outdated. Kids pool has no bathroom (so you know where kids are going). They did have golf cart rides for tips to beach. There are lots of restaurants. Those were good! Now onto promised items. Visa card did work, dough dollars are only for certain restaurants. Only a couple in the area. The vouchers for $50 off a hotel, you have to book thru trip advisor. The 3 vacation packages are a NO go. Why…they never emailed them, like gal said they did. We waited 24 hours and kept checking all folders (like they tell you to). We tried calling and the rep said packages were not in profile and they would transfer to Welcome center. That rang for 3 minutes. We called back..no one answered this time at all. So.. lesson…do not trust them with the “promised stuff”! Now Hilton Grand Vacation NEVER did that to us and we do love our timeshare with them! So..again.. check BBB for Spinnakers. Not good reviews.

Stayed in 5107 which had 2 king bedrooms & 2 large bathrooms. The unit was very clean and they provided ample towels & toiletries. Big surprise too was that they included 2 bikes in a storage space for the unit free of charge. Wish they had told us that upon booking because we brought 2 bikes from home. The beds are very comfortable. Keep in mind that there is a unit upstairs. They had children & we could hear them running around all night. The pool and hot tub areas are very nice. The walk to the beach is anywhere from 10-15 minutes. If you're lugging lots of stuff, drive to the free parking area early in the morning and leave your car there. Get there early because it fills up quickly. Big negative was the morning of check-out, housekeeping came by at 9am when checkout is at 10am. Didn't appreciate feeling rushed.

We have been owners at Waterside for 20+ years and have gone to HH every year, we do not trade our timeshare. We have even used Owner Bonus Time. We always request the 5700 building and this year stayed in 5735. All units are seriously in need of updating, the paint in this unit was chipped on the baseboards and the bathrooms have not been updated since built over 20 years ago. The vanities are beat up, faucets are old, shower stalls stained, and no one uses the jacuzzi tub (last time I did 10 years ago, I got an UTI!). What we are all paying in yearly maintenance fees, plus the 10’s of thousands we all have paid for one week of usage each year should provide for updates at least every 5-10 years. The dishwasher was old, fridge old and barely made ice, it’s almost embarrassing to have friends with us! And to top it off this year we had a problem with what we were told was “carpet beetles”! We are disappointed, but we have little choice since we have paid for ours long ago and we love Hilton Head Island. We refuse to attend their high pressure “owners meetings” each year! It’s not worth the $100 to take 2-3 hours of our vacation to listen to their lies. We just want the units updated with new appliances and total guts of the bathrooms!

Waterside has multiple blogs, adequate parking and comfortable room. Difficult to trade into, so plan far in advance, walking distance to beach. Covered parking. Hospitable staff. Longish check in. Clean and well stocked condos.
