The White Pheasant

Our stay was ok, beds comfy and hotel room quiet. However, the hotel was freezing cold throughout. Our room was stone cold and we had to keep the heating on all night. The heated towel rail in the bathroom didnt work and we werent able to get any hot water in the sink. The bathroom light was linked to an extractor fan which was reduculously noisy and stated on for ages after use. We didnt bother with a shower we just wanted to get in the car to warm up. Breakfast was nice.

Lovely approach, setting and building. Lovely and clean , bed comfortable . Unfortunately couldn’t comment on the restaurant as not open evening or morning as no chef available, although an offer was given to deliver drinks to the room if required . No heating in the bathroom .

The whole property needs a complete overhaul. It is very tired and could be a beautiful hotel with some repairs and modernisation. It is in a lovely setting but the grounds are overgrown and uncared for. A very small staff, and no one on reception on arrival, had to call someone from the kitchen to check in! The meals were adequate but not very high standard, I found a hair in my mushrooms. I think the 3 star rating needs investigation, it really is not worth 1star!!

The first impression was so disappointing. The reception was unoccupied gloomy and dark,and m we had to roam hotel to find somebody through lenghty soulless meandering corridors. We reached our allocated room, strong odour of bleach , it was clean and modernised Needed a drink, visited the bar , little or no a**osphere, the 2 girls serving were really nice, but there was an uneasy a**osphere. Understand its a huge project in progress , but felt really uncomfortsble. Fortunately our orginal choice called out of the blue with a cancellation, so as we had fully paid up in advance we therefore cancelled our booking moved out and had paid for a room we didnt use

The room was clesn and comfortable, housekeeping staff were very helpful especially helpful with my wife who was a bit off colour. The general quslity of catering was better than our last. Our last day breakfadt was goid however consistency needs to be maintained. Front of house staff work very hard, especially Nial, & Jenny. As a former auditor i would suggest a visit by a snag fixer and this place would be cracking. Small changes, massive differences.

A good value for money Hotel, slightly dated, but room was large and bed very comfortable. So for the money was a very good option. Breakfast was good with good options, and reasonable value, staff in the restaurant were very good. On the negative side the bar was closed, and the only time we saw anybody on reception was when we checked in.

Picturesque Tudor style hotel and restaurant in rural setting was idyllic. The interior is being upgraded, with modern bathrooms. There were high quality and large servings in the restaurant. Pleasant staff rounded out the experience. We will be back!

Overall we had a good stay. Our room was nice although the bathroom door lock was broken. It was also quite hot in the room as there is no aircon but the staff did bring two fans in for us. The decor is a little dated but quite charming. The breakfast was really tasty and there was a good selection.

Very disappointed no staff on arrival no food and bar also shut keys were left in the reception for you to sort out yourself 😞
