Afan Lodge is a dog friendly hotel, within its own grounds in the Afan Argoed Country Park. There is free Wi-Fi and each modern room has air conditioning, 39 inch smart flat-screen TV. The popular lounge bar lets guests relax with a beer, hot chocolate or freshly ground coffee. Lounge beside the fire on one of the sofas and watch the large TV. The Afan Lodge Restaurant has a stylish yet traditional menu, with fresh and often local ingredients. The Afan Lodge Is owned and operated by Pen Y Cymoedd Community Fund who welcome those who want to enjoy the Afan Valley mountain bike trails and walking routes. There is a secure bike lock-up on site. The Community Fund has been established by energy company Vattenfall for the benefit of the communities hosting the wind farm in and across the upper Neath, Afan, Rhondda and Cynon Valleys. The Fund has an annual Budget of £1.8 million until 2043 and it offers an amazing opportunity for local people to invest themselves and their ideas - building on all that is best in their communities. Pen Y Cymoedd Community Fund purchased The Lodge to ensure its continued contribution to the local community's economic and social wellbeing, by creating and sustaining employment. Any eventual profits will return to the community fund for reinvestment across its area of benefit The Fund is managed by an independent, locally based not-for-profit Community Interest Company. Pen Y Cymoedd Community Fund has eight Directors and three members of staff - all with local connections and many combined years of community engagements experience. Afan Lodge is between the Forest Park Centre and Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre. It is 6 miles from the M4 and 8 miles from the coast. The food has greatly improved . Great choice and the options to sit in the bar , restaurant and outdoors - every time I have eaten here the service has been so friendly and professional. Very clean and cosy setting. The views are are an added bonus

Very unhappy with my experience. Went with ASD school, where there is special needs and dietary requirements. We planned on buying drinks, but needed to take our own lunch. The manager was very disrespectful with how he talked about the ASD children. We use this place alot for school trips and spend alot of money here. However today was a very disrespectful experience. Although this was a bad experience the waiter was very respectful and friendly.

Went for lunch in the restaurant after having so many recommendations to try it, beautiful surroundings but so disappointed with the food and service. We waited 1 1/2hours for our meals, our table was booked for 2 hours 1 - 3 pm (they closed at 3 ) we couldn’t have dessert or coffee as they were closing at 3 o clock. Lots of mistakes with the order, medium steak was black around the edges and very well done, asked for no onions in the burger, this was rectified by them taking it away removing the onions and giving the same burger back which had the taste of onions right through it !! Not a very good experience, I’m really annoyed with myself that we paid the bill without expressing our concerns before we left

Beautiful setting in the wrong area. Bar staff lovely. Only third time in there and never again. What an experience, no bouncers on for a match day and a big function going on. So if your planning to go there don’t be surprise you need to act as a bouncer too. Head manager attitude is very bad, who broke gdpr when speaking to me after the eventful evening.

We frequently come here for food, and it never fails on the standard and quantity every time. We came for the Chinese New Year Buffet, and it was 5 stars again, lots to eat, and lots of choices. Love the choices of local beers and gins. Friendly staff and a relaxing atmosphere. Looking g forward to the next time 👍

Highly recommend Wednesday Steak Night deal! £35 for two steaks plus bottle wine and the dishes didn’t disappoint. You don’t have to have two steaks. There’s chicken dish to choose from also. Great value for money. Lovely surroundings to this place. Plentiful parking spaces too. Staff were friendly and helpful. We also brought our dog along. But had to dine in bar area. Would definitely return

Visited here with friends and a dog. Had to book a table in the bar , but this really was not a problem, as this was almost as good as the restaurant. The food was very well presented and cooked well. Tasty and ample portions. All the staff were very competent and friendly. Dog was made welcome. We will definitely be back to sample breakfast and Sunday lunch. Just be prepared for lots of cyclists

My fish breakfast was included in the price of the room and look what I was served…. The alternatives were equally impressive. Then we discovered that the breakfast chefs were two young girls. And it was served up against a backdrop of the stunning Afon Valley. A great start to the day.

Stayed at Afan lodge for work and what a place it was. Food was tremendous very much value for money, price for drinks was really good also. The room had a lovely view of the mountain side, very clean and also good value for money if anything it is under priced for how nice the room was. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as possible, really friendly and great customer service. Would definitely recommend and I hope I’m back down there for work cause I’d book again within a heart beat. Thank you Afan lodge!!
