Absolutely Outstanding Hotel & Service . Driving through this little town stopped off for some food. Staff and service second to none. An extremely warm welcome front office team. A young girl and a Manager in a blue suit. Have to say, I actually overheard other guests that had just checked in and were in the bar to how amazing their check in was. Especially, a table that flew from London to a concert near by. How the gentleman in the blue suit ( sorry I didn't get your name , I hope they know who I'm taking about ) went completely out of his way to organise transport for them. Food was extremely tasty. Piping hot. Didn't have. Adrink as driving. However, I was told by another guest it's the best Guinness they have ever had. Maybe next time I'll book for a night. What a hidden gem this place is. All the success with it. Thanks to all the team.

First time here. A hidden gem for quality food, excellent service and unbelievable value in Ireland. €5 for a fantastic pint of Guinness in a hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner faultless. Staff are 11/10 .. just can’t do enough when asked to help.

We had a great stay in this lovely hotel. Breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts we have had and it was served to you rather than having to queue up to be served. Small issue, we were given a disabled accessible room and probably would have preferred to be given a choice as to whether we wanted this.

I brought my sister there for dinner on April 5th and was totally disappointed with the service, food was appalling, total lack of interest in customers, tables uncleared and no one checked or cared if everything was ok with us. Was very cold also.

Great place to stay. Staff are very friendly and personable. Comfortable bed. Fabulous breakfast. Relaxed a**osphere. Beside Castlecomer Discovery park so lovely location Will be back Thank you

Went for food with family. Waited for over 30 mins and nobody came to serve us. Had to go up and get menus myself and still another 15 mins nobody came to serve us. Eventually we decided to leave. Not the first time this has happened and they are notorious for slow service. Lovely place but a pity they can't get their act together when it comes to service.

We stayed in the Avalon Hotel for 2 nights Sunday and Monday. What a find it’s a hidden gem. We could not fault anything about our stay. Our room was very comfortable, nicely decorated and spotlessly clean . Food was excellent and well presented, served by very friendly staff Mena and Trish on both nights. The breakfast was cooked to order with an extensive menu from full Irish to French toast and eggs Benedict. It was my husband’s birthday and we were pleasantly surprised they had music in the bar on Sunday night , we had a fantastic night. All the staff in the hotel are extremely friendly, helpful and professional. I would highly recommend staying in this hotel. We have already booked a return visit for May.

A lovely country house experience, with owners and staff taking pride in the building and its interior. Staff very friendly and hospitable, a particular mention of Emma Doyle. My wife forgot phone charger and the hotel contacted us and sent it on in the post. Nice food and a suitably quiet location. Outside the hotel you can walk the small town which has a river flowing, close to hotel. We had a pleasant stay and we would recommend the hotel.

We stayed at the Avalon House Hotel for three nights in November 2023. This was our third time to stay here, previous experiences were good, but unfortunately this trip was very disappointing. Our room was perfect, warm, cosy and comfortable. Unfortunately as soon as we moved outside it was a completely different story, the place was freezing. We wore our coats and scarves to breakfast and dinner. Dinner was disgusting and despite complaining we were totally ignored. I have no doubt but what we had on night two was most definitely cooked from Lunch time, totally inedible. The cold in the place was dreadful. On two days our room was not serviced until 5pm, one of those days we were left Hand towels and not Bath towels. No shower caps, no face towels !!! We both ended up sick when we got home. I certainly will remember celebrating my special birthday. Two emails to Avalon House and NO response.
