What a pleasant stay and such a delightful difference from the big hotel chains.
A warm welcome by friendly staff to what I imagine a traditional homestead would look like, but with well renovated modern conveniences fused with traditional elements.
Excellent location for sightseeing, a step away from the Bund, river tour and a short ride to the Three Lanes Seven Streets area.
As a traditional homestead if you're looking for bacon and eggs breakfast not her but the dumplings, fishballs and pastries were great.
This is the kind of place I will be looking to stay at in China whenever possible.

Had a lovely stay in this hotel, good location, the staff is very nice and friendly. Had a complementary ‘Hanfu experience and did some calligraphy which was great! It’s a little far from the real Three Lanes and Seven Alleys. You need to get a taxi there.

Beautiful hotel situated in 上下杭 historic area. About an 8 minute walk to metro (line 1) which is convenient to access other points of interest, and about a 20 minute walk across the river into 烟台山 lively commercial area. I loved waking up in 上下杭 and returning there every evening. The hotel itself is worth a look as it features traditional architecture with modern amenities, the staff is very friendly too!

Wonderful accommodation with the right touch of local characteristics, coupled with some modern fittings to ensure good staying experience. Everything is perfect but be prepared to use some mosquitoes repellant during the night as the place is along a river. Just some natural phenomena to be expected during the summer time.
