I stayed for 3.5 weeks and everything was very good. The staff are friendly and will help you with anything you need. The room was nice and the location is excellent. I recommend using earplugs in the night since the walls are thin and also for preventing outside noise to wake you up.

Just returned from my stay at Hospedaria Por Do Sol.
As a solo traveler, the hotel was ideal for my budget.
Excellent and very friendly customer service from a family run hotel. Fresh towels daily and breakfast on offer if booked in advance.
The hotel is within walking distance to the Marina, shops, restaurants ect. It is also around the corner from the SAM bus depot where you can catch the bus to and from the airport. (5 euros) It is on a narrow steep street so be prepared if you have luggage on wheels! There are no lifts at the property and flights of stairs so travel light if you can! There is a lovely terrace where you can sit and watch the sunset and an indoor seating area with tv.
There is a communal kitchen for guests to use.
A pleasant stay and a good base to explore Funchal and surrounding areas.

Superb value hotel / pension. Room small but adequate. Shower OK. Excellent wi-fi for the size of the place. Friendly service. Location not ideal (up a hill), but so long as you don't want too many frills, highly recommended.

Hôtel très bien situé, idéal pour les petits budgets. Il est proposé tout ce qui est nécessaire pour un bon séjour. Le personnel est très arrangeant et souriant. Seul bémol, la propreté des chambres laisse quelque peu à désirer et la fenêtre de notre chambre ne pouvait pas se fermer nous étions donc obligés de fermer les volets. Très correct dans l'ensemble. Merci pour le sejour

Hôtel modeste pas cher simple et propre. L essentiel est la un lit une douche et chambre faite chaque idéalement situé. Près du centre ville et des transports. Hôtel pour de vrais globes trotters Véronique

Nous étions seulement de passage avant de repartir le lendemain tôt le matin pour l'aéroport. Nous étions passé dans cet hôtel au début de notre séjour et l'emplacement nous convenait (proche centre ville et arrêt de bus), et le prix était attrayant. Mais chambre inconfortable, beaucoup de bruit extérieur, accueil très moyen, cuisine avec seulement un frigo et un micro onde donc pas de possibilité de se faire à manger.

Excelente atendimento, simpatia, localização espetacular a dois passos do centro da cidade do Funchal.Sempre disponíveis para informar de como e onde se encontram os melhores locais e perto do lá vir onde se come bem e barato. .Um muito obrigado pela simpatia.

Pregio: prezzo molto basso. Difetti: fatiscente, blatte nonostante la disinfestazione che la gestione si premura di fare. Al di là del problema scarafaggi, la struttura internamente è vecchia, il letto per niente adeguato (spacciato come matrimoniale un letto da una piazza e mezza, corto). Arredi vecchi e stantii. La signora in reception è molto simpatica e gentile, ma noi non ce l’abbiano fatta… abbiamo preferito cambiare in corsa. Mi preme però dire che trovata la blatta in stanza ci è stata ripulita da cima a fondo. Il problema si è però ripresentato alla porta la sera successiva.

Optima localizacao do centro do funchal; preço bom; funcionarios simpaticos; vista p castelo s lourenço central para transportes publicos e praia relativamente perto a pé; zona envolvente agradavel :-)
