I am reviewing my solo all inclusive week-long holiday at Monarque Fuengirola Park hotel from 11th to 18th November 2023. The temperature was around 25 degrees everyday. Firstly I'd like to start by saying that I will definitely be returning to this place. Although there were some negatives my overall experience was extremely positive and the main factor in that was the staff - they were English-speaking, helpful, friendly, always smiling and making conversation. They made me feel at ease as a solo traveller and I never felt out of place. I arrived late to the hotel and they had made me up a food platter with cheese, meats, salad, fresh bread and butter, and fresh fruit. I was blown away and so happy because I hadn't eaten for hours. On arrival to my room I was very pleased. It was tidy, spotlessly clean, had a good balcony and a modern bathroom with toiletries and lots of clean towels. The room has air conditioning that you can control and a television with Spanish and English channels. The only downsides about the room was that there was no kettle/hot drink making facilities and the bed was very firm - perfect for someone who likes a firm mattress but I've always had a memory foam so it was quite a difference for me. I did get used to it and I slept well, although the walls were quite thin so don't forget your ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. The rooms can be cleaned/towels changed every morning if wanted. In terms of the hotel location, I was very happy as the hotel is a 2 minute walk to the beach which is full of souvenir shops and supermarkets, bars, restaurants, ice cream shops and lovely sandy beaches. You can walk along the beach promenade for 30-60 minutes and will arrive in the main town which has a shopping centre with primark, zara, h+m and more. There are also boat trips to go on and jet skis, bikes and electric scooters to rent along the sea front. There are a lot of excursions advertised at the hotel reception including Gibraltar, marbella, malaga etc for a good price. There is a bus service very close to the hotel and the train line is also close and very cheap so you can go wherever you want on day trips. If you have paid up front to have meals at the hotel but you are going out for the day then the hotel will provide a takeaway picnic including cheeses, meats, bread, fruit, fruit juice etc. The hotel employs an entertainment lady who arranges daily entertainment which is advertised in the hotel reception. Whilst I was there she took a group of us to the weekly street market on a Tuesday which was brilliant, great for presents and those fake designer items. She also arranged bowls, pletank, soap making and sangria making. In the evenings there were entertainers in the main bar including Spanish dancing, live singers and dance music. Personally I think it could have been as I found myself just watching other guests dance most evenings. It would be good to have more of a show. There are lots of quiet places to sit around
