We visited the restaurant on 27th May at 19.00. We had written confirmation of our table reservation which included confirmation of a gluten-free requirement. The importance of the gluten-free option was discussed with the manageress on arrival. When the main course arrived, the steak was covered with a sauce. I was unsure if this was gluten-free so queried it with the waitress, who took it back to the kitchen to check. After 10 minutes waiting, she returned with the plate with no sauce. She dumped it on the table with no explanation or apology. Later, we raised it with the manageress and after investigation she said that the chef had prepared a gluten-free steak, but the waitress had taken the wrong plate. Had we not queried this, my wife would have been severely sick and ill for a day. Not what anyone expects on holiday. To make matters worse we were charged the full amount with no goodwill gesture to compensate for such a serious incident. The restaurant was very busy and the service was very slow and we were there for over 2 hours for a basic meal. However that wasn't as disastrous as the gluten-free error!!
