This absolutely should not qualify to be called a resort, and certainly not an upscale one for that matter. I have stayed in plenty of hotels and resorts (including a different, much superior one only a half mile from the Sonesta) and this is a subpar, and glorified hotel. The resort fee is a rip off as the only incremental benefit than a regular hotel is the free bottle of water a day (which we did not receive on our second day) and a free coffee or prosecco (or soft drink), which is also laughable.
You have to request to have your room cleaned by noon, and even then, it is a “light cleaning”. The pool is tiny and the other amenities are basic. Not only do you get charged this $50 resort fee per night, parking is still separate and is another $50 per night. As for the room itself, it was fine, although we checked in to discover our sink drain was clogged and when the guy came to fix it, he pulled out a massive clump of hair, which was not the welcome we expected.
The staff was super polite and professional, and frankly the only saving grace. The proximity to the pool is another advantage, but with many other options on this *****, would not pick this hotel again ever
