Riu la Mola

We booked the hotel Riu la Mola as a package with Tui Uk,which included flights, hotel and all transfers from Ibiza to Formentera. Getting there.....We flew from Manchester on the 4th of May. After collecting our luggage at Ibiza airport, we went to the Tui desk in the arrival hall. Here we were given our ferry tickets for the trasmapi fast ferries. Also a map of the ferry terminals at Ibiza town and La Savina, Formentera. This included our (mini) bus numbers. at both locations. We were then driven to Ibiza port, where we were met by a member of the trasmapi team, who directed us to our ferry. 40 minutes later we arrived on Formentera, and found our (mini) bus at the port bus station, who conveyed us to the Hotel Riu La Mola. We were the only people travelling to Formentera, on both journeys. So well organised by Tui/trasmapi. Hotel La Mola.....The hotel is built into a hillside and on different levels, which means lots of steps from the top down to the beach. Our room was on the upper block with a great view. It is not a large room, but has a comfy double bed (sheets changed on request) and plenty of storage space, with a free safe. However no usb charging points,and only one power point. No ceiling fan, no tea/coffee facilities (as in other Riu hotels) A fully stocked minibar, with water soft drinks and beers. The air conditioning worked well. The bathroom had a walk in shower, with a rain shower attachment, one power point and towels changed every day. Also shower gel and hand soap provided. The restaurant is a good size with inside and outside seating. Breakfast is limited, with a small selection of cereals, no omelette station (As in other Riu hotels). But we always found something to eat. Dinner always had a good selection of hot food, but the salad cold dishes and deserts were repetitive. Pool(s) and snack bar. The main pool and snack bar is situated down by the beach, and while there we were always able to get a sun lounger, no matter what time of day. The snack bar served excellent lunches, which are reasonably priced, as are the drinks, and enjoyed sitting there overlooking the beach.There is also waiter service to your lounger. There is also a quiet pool between the two main buildings, but no bar is available there. The Beach.... There are sun loungers and brollies on the beach, which is managed by the hotel, but as the beach is a public space, you have to pay to use these loungers. This was 18 euros per day for two loungers and a brolly. We enjoyed this option, as there was always a cooling breeze and quiet away from the pool scene. Lounge bar. This is open in the evenings and while the entertainment was low key (which suited us) also a large outside area, to watch the sunset, prior to having dinner. Again a good selection of drinks at reasonable prices. (If you download the Riu app, you can check out the price of drinks at this hotel). However what made our holiday enjoyable is the wonderful friendly staff across all depar**ents.

We arrived at 2May in the hotel. When we wanted to take a shower it came out that there is a problem in the hotel and only cold water is avilible, we were informed that it will be fixed soon. From there guests we received the information that there was no warm water since few days… Next day, there was still no warm water… On top it was 19C in the room… Heating option on the air conditioner is not working , looks like the air conditioner was never cleaned since it was installed…

A glorious location just 2hrs 20min from Leeds Bradford. Travel to Ibiza initially, taxi 19Eu then to port just a short drive, fast ferry to Formentera ( very Expensive ), taxi to hotel 20Eu Hotel was simply amazing, friendly staff and accommodation was more than we expected, got told we had no sea view, but we did a huge panoramic view of the glorious ocean. All the restaurants including the hotel on the beach restaurant were expensive but the good side was it was all very nice food, had no complaints at all, so I guess you get what you pay for. Breakfast and evening meals had so much choice and it was not repetitive so you were always excited to going up for your meals. The main restaurant was in my opinion in the wrong place, to access it you had a long and steep climb up steps or steep incline to the side of the hotel, so if you are in the accommodation at the top near the reception its a steep climb back to your accommodation from the beach and vice versa if your accommodation is at the bottom its a steep climb to the restaurant. The beach does not belong to the hotel so you have to pay for the deck chairs and umbrellas ( would have been nice to know this before we booked a two week stay is expensive enough without having to then pay for comfort on the beach, plenty of chairs and umbrellas around the pool if you can beat the Germans making a dash for them very early in the Mornings, having to actually be apart of the rush was embarrassing to say the least , but if you don't, don't expect to find too many empty ones. Beach is extremely sandy super crystal clear and was warm you could have been in the Caribbean. We were there for two weeks and found two English couples, mostly the hotel was populated by Germans, who basically thought they had the right to break all the rules, push in and be quite abrupt with each other, the amount of arguments between them in the restaurants was indeed entertaining they simply did not care who was watching and where they where, they also filled water containers up from the water dispensers in the restaurants with CLEAR signs saying not too, and during breakfast most stuffed food into bags and plastic containers and not just the odd bun but pick nick proportions for when they were on the beach, probably due to the high cost of the beach restaurants, it was a shame to see such behavior. All that a side would we go back... most defiantly, we just need to take more spending money next time.

Just a SHAME!!!! It’s definitively not a 4 stars but a VERY OLD and bad managed 3 stars (have a look on the picture attached). Dirty, old, not maintained, food with low quality and moreover not attention to the customers. The restaurant it’s a smelling company canteen; the chairs in the pools are very dirty (color go to brown from an original cream…); room with rust everywhere; deteriorate floor with holes and detached; towels not changed for 3 days despite with put twice on the floor ; unclean crockery; etc.. Inexistent customer care with rude staff. At the end it’s just a waste of money. Unbelievable expensive for such poor quality.

Typical resort hotel, very well managed with excellent staff. Hotel has a main building up the hill, and a smaller building next to the beach. You need to descend by outdoor stairs to get to the second building, the swimming pool and the beach. I had a good sized room with sea view on the 5th floor of the first building, with nice terrace, and in good condition. Very good food in the main restaurant with large lounge terrace overlooking the sea. Small beach side restaurant. The tennis courts are in desperate need of better tennis balls…

I have visited here a number of times now and continue to be impressed by the quality of the facilities and maintenance. Food is varied and good. The pool areas are attractive and there is a beach in front , although I prefer the Es Arenals beach which is a short walk away. It’s helpful to have a hire car to visit all the wonderful beaches on the island.
