Wat een prachtige plek om helemaal tot rust te komen. Vanuit de chaos in Kochi naar een oase van rust. Back to nature met een beetje luxe. Wij hebben met ons gezien genoten van de vriendelijke mensen, de prachtige omgeving aan de rivier met veel volges en vlinders om te spotten. Helaas was er veel regen tijdens ons verblijf waardoor we geen gebruik hebben kunnen maken van alle leuke activiteiten die bij de accommodatie georganiseerd worden. We zouden the bird watching tour gaan doen. De organisatie was soms wat rommelig. We hebben namelijk een uur gewacht in de vroege regenachtige morgen om te horen dat de tour niet doorgaat omdat het regent. Ook hadden we niet altijd warm water op de tijden dat dit wel werd beloofd. Een keer hadden we geen stromend water maar dit was zonder het te melden als snel opgelost.

Hornbill camp provides a fantastic "glamping" experience on the banks of the Periyar river. The setting is truly stunning and makes up for some of the shortcomings of the resort. The food is average by South Indian resort standards, but at least the tea and coffee were very good. There is basically no WiFi (or very very slow) and no alcohol is served here due to local laws. The tents are a highlight though, with comfortable beds, (good) aircon and a fan, and a decent bathroom. The staff are very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Overall Hornbill provides a good base from where to explore the surrounding areas and attractions.

Such a beautiful, serene escape. The nature is in abundance, the views are stunning everywhere you look, the staff can't do enough to help and are so wonderful and the food is delicious. We had such a fantastic time cycling around the local area, kayaking, we took a day trip to Munnar - all organised by the fabulous staff. Just incredible. So sad to leave.

Excellent place with lovely views of the river from the rooms. Good food and helpful staff. No Bar. One downside - the WiFi is rubbish. They really should do something to improve that. The beds are comfortable and clean, but no hot water, not that you really need it.

Wonderful, relaxing spot. Staff is warm, friendly, helpful. Food is delicious. Tents are comfy, air conditioned with lovely views. Kayaking is fantastic. Bikes are available, both regular and e-bikes. And, of course, the birds! Highly recommend a few days here.

I loved my time here. A beautiful and calm place to explore and enjoy. And the staff makes this place wonderful; they are warm, attentive, sweet, generous, welcoming with warm smiles and very friendly; Kerala style. Excellent location and services. Complimentary kayaking for 30 mins are offered. The tents are clean with all sorts of amenities including ac and attached bath and have nets to prevent insects.

We arrived on bikes and were immediately impressed by the location and the welcome we received. Our riverside accommodation was a luxury tent with air con, hot shower and a comfortable bed. Meals were provided a short walk away in the big open-air marquee and were delicious. Our highlight was an early evening kayak with a guide on the river, it was so beautiful with the Western Ghats as a backdrop.
