Travelodge Edinburgh Learmonth

This travelodge is perfect for a cheap getaway. It’s only 1/2 a mile from princes street so makes a perfect location to head out and see the sites. They had a bath in the room which most don’t. The bad bits If on the 3rd floor don’t flush the loo if you want a shower. There is zilch pressure. They don’t clean the rooms at all if you are staying more that one night but charge the same. They corridors were only cleaned once in the time we were there. The stupid cards to get in your room and use the door deactivate after one day so you have to keep going back. The guy on reception roughly in his 40’s was so apologetic but the other staff couldn’t give two hoots!

I booked three rooms at this hotel and I have now been told that it is closing so can no longer accommodate my booking. The bookings have been transferred automatically by Travelodge. The issue is, we have been split between two hotels - one in central Edinburgh and one in Edinburgh Park, which is much further out. I tried calling Central Reservations to amend the booking and was put through to a very rude man. I asked if he could assist and he told me to contact customer services. I told him that phones weren’t being answered and he told me that this is the 21st century and that I need to get with the times - no one makes phone calls anymore… ironic since him answering the phone is actually his job. When I showed frustration at the fact that customer service don’t have a phone number and emails were taking 7 business days to respond to he told me that I should blame the government and Boris Johnson for there not being enough staff at Travelodge as it wasn’t his problem. An exceptionally rude and unprofessional exchange. I am looking for alternative hotels for these three rooms and also have three rooms booked in January in London which I will be rebooking with another hotel group. I would hate to put pressure on the short-staffed Travelodge employees unnecessarily with my business. Absolutely appalling service from a well-known brand. PS I have contacted them on social media and via email but still no word.

We’ve stayed in Edinburgh a few times at 2 different Travelodge either on princes street or 5 minutes away. Thought I’d try this one as it was cheaper but completely regret that decision now. Room was absolutely freezing and pillows were rock hard (thought these would be the same in all Travelodges however other travelodges had much comfier pillows for some reason…) Received the standard ‘getting here’ email and was directed to a car park that was a 30 minute walk from the hotel only to find when we got to the hotel that there was free on street parking on a weekend. The receptionist didn’t know about the parking discount the email advised of and suggested to move my car - which I did. So another journey to get my car and pay the £6 parking fee which could have easily been avoided. There was also no TV remote in the room when my friend usually has the TV as background noise to get to sleep. Staff did not advise of breakfast so we had to ask what time it is on etc (which isn’t a big deal however this is normally something they’re meant to inform you around). When we arrived at the restaurant there was no one there to greet us and we were waiting for a while before a member of staff came. There were no seats for 5 so had to sit on seperate tables of 2 and there was no cutlery. When we went to get our food there was no sausages beans scrambled egg or hash browns and there was only 3 rashes of bacon (the breakfast was on for another hour so timing was not the issue) so had to wait for them to bring more food out. The beautiful city itself made the stay worthwhile but needed to leave a review of the hotel so others know to avoid this particular Travelodge.

Spent two nights at the Learmonth last month.. Room was clean and very spacious. Staff were very helpful even after losing my room swipe card. Would stay again but unfortunately The Learmonth is closing

I start by giving advice. If your going to Check-in late be aware. Arrived at 11pm after a 5 hour journey to be told that the hotel had been overbooked and we would have to now go find an alternative hotel where our stay had been moved to. Had to pay for parking then told next morning that we would now have to spend part of our day moving back again. Waste of time going up there with all the messing about. Put in complaint only for it to be ignored. Travelodge if ypu get it wrong like this the least tou can do is respond and say sorry. Moral to the story if you intend on arriving late book a different hotel chain as it’s their policy to overbook nowadays. Arrive early you will be fine. Appalling service over the whole weekend left to tired stressed staff to handle. Four rooms in total so the staff struggled to deal with us all.
