Camping Bayona Playa

Overall a lovely holiday in the Cies bungalows. Campsite is impeccably clean as are all the service blocks, they seem to have someone constantly cleaning them. The location is absolutely ideal, it’s a 40 minute walk into the old town in Baiona, we did try to get a taxi a couple of times but they didn’t seem to be plentiful. Views from the bungalows are outstanding and I spent a long time gazing at the Cies islands being reminded of the Skelligs back home. The Galicians are a friendly bunch but we did find we struggled occasionally as not many people speak English. The bar and restaurant have fantastic views also but bear in mind they stop serving food at certain times of the day, dinner available from 8.30pm. Service can be slow as they don’t seem to have enough staff on. Food is fine but restaurants in the port would be nicer so worth making the trip there. The breakfast is nice and good value. Reception staff could be friendlier, I found them to be very officious and smiles were not plentiful. The mobile/bungalow itself was very modern and well planned. Two ring hob, microwave oven, small dishwasher, large fridge freezer, usb sockets in bedrooms. King size bed in master but mattress not brilliant. Aircon worked fine but we didn’t need it while we were there. Could do with a few more hooks for towels etc and a larger coffee pot. Our kids loved the stand up paddle boards you could rent. €15 for one hour. Better to get them at full tide and you can paddle out to the estuary. The beach itself is clean and water clear. When the tide is out you can nearly walk over to the headland across from the beach. Good beach for serious swimmers, saw lots of them with their tows pulling behind them. Pool really only suitable for kids messing about. Can’t really swim properly in it but our kids loved the slide and spent hours on it. Would really recommend the campsite as a great base for exploring this beautiful area.

We stayed for a couple of nights with a motorhome. Reception staff very cheerful. Pitch overlooking the lagoon was not huge but adequate, separated by hedges. Toilet block was spotless with lovely showers. Cleaned regularly. The location is ideal for cycling in both directions along the well marked cycle paths. Unfortunately our stay was disturbed by a group of teenagers who talked and shouted loudly till after 1am. Then more shouting at 3am. Our neighbours were told to be quiet at 10pm but the kids were not challenged. Also we were woken at 7am by a huge crane and several lorries delivering more cabins. It seems that the touring pitches will eventually be replaced with cabins. All facilities, bar pool etc still closed at this time. However the beach access is superb and we sat watching the sunset both nights. Overall a lovely site and we would return when no kids or lorries present.

We camped on a river view pitch. It overlooked the nature reserve. Across the other side of the site is a beautiful sandy beach. It is a lovely setting, peaceful but with a bit of a buzzy a**osphere. The the toilets and showers are pretty much constantly being cleaned - the cleaners do a fantastic job. The supermarket is good, as is the bar. The restaurant is ok. Plenty of restaurants in Baiona, a 30 minute walk away. There's a great bakery, supermarket and tapas (Fidalgo Meson) on Rua Julian Valverde which is the street behind the main road on the other side of the nature reserve. Cycling and walking is very easy with paths separate from the road which seem to go on for miles.

This campsite is superb! Lovely restaurant on site with great food. Shop is well stocked too. Staff in reception friendly enough not too much english speaking tho.only a few mins walk from the beach. Local town has lovely restaurants and lots to see with a lovely Castle walk both inside and out. Great cycling paths too in this area. We highly recommend this campsite. Not too expensive either with a lovely swimming pool.

This is a very big campsite and when we first arrived we were a bit concerned. However, it is a really nice campsite and the toilet blocks were the cleanest we have ever experienced. The reception staff were very helpful and spoke good English. We have a 6m UK caravan. The site pitches are small but we were on site 138 which looked over the estuary. We had some tree shade which was nice. Lovely beach with access from the camp and a great cycle path into Baiona town. Electrical hook up was the Spanish two pin not the UK style 3 bin sockets. Only negative was the speed many people drove in the campsite. Would recommend this campsite.

Booked this site via CAMC as part of a 5 week tour of Spain & Portugal...... Views of the beach & bay from the premium bungalows are good but the camping pitches leave a lot to be desired as are very sandy..... We were told pool & restaurant were closed, however the pool did open for a few hours daily but weather wasn't favourable, not that it stopped some folk. Shower blocks are impeccably clean. Staff were very helpful on our arrival despite our lack of Spanish. Plenty of restaurants locally & can highly recommend Casa Naveira in Baiona.

I would live here the whole year in the bungalow I had. All the staff was nice, from the people at the reception to the cleaning and maintenance staff. The beach around the peninsula is the dream and the water is amazing.

Most reviews are correct. Great location toilet facilities 4*.area love it, recon this place will buzz come summer. But now. It web site needs to be up dated as pics are well out of date some what over priced with all facilities closed. Would I come again yes unless I can find some where which could better this location. Hopefully the owns read and get lawn mower out and hedge trimmer. And drop price to reflect that it's no were near open. If address this place is 5* if not low 4*. John still here.
