A Culinary Gem in a Misplaced Setting! I had a rather unique experience at Courtyard Marriott Colva. This new hotel (the first Courtyard in South Goa), nestled in a vibrant holiday place in Goa, is designed more like a business hotel—a stark, stand-alone building with limited space for leisure activities. This architectural choice feels somewhat at odds with the surrounding lively holiday atmosphere. However, what the hotel lacks in resort-style amenities, it makes up for with its exceptional culinary offerings. The food is truly the highlight of my stay. Each meal was a delightful experience, showcasing a wide variety of flavors and impeccable presentation. The chef - Soumaya deserves special mention for his remarkable talent and dedication, seemingly shouldering the responsibility of enhancing the overall guest experience. He is a wonderful person with exceptional culinary skills. The staff, especially the Front Desk—Kichu, Sheetal, Gaurav and F&B staff—Gopinath, Rajesh and others were attentive and welcoming, ensuring that guests felt comfortable despite the limited recreational options. The Tattva Spa team - Mimi and her expert therapist Novi are exceeding expectations! While the hotel might not offer the traditional resort amenities one might expect, it’s a perfect spot for those who appreciate fine dining and prefer a quieter, more focused environment. The pool is per the size of the hotel (not big). The hotel does not have a dedicated parking, its an adjacent open plot. The hotel is surrounded by housing societies, so it feels awkward to be in a residential holiday place! The rooftop of the hotel has yet to be utilized. This is not a wedding or a place to celebrate with a big guest list, as there is no space for this. The beach is not far away the nearest access is ~500m (straight road) but through a stench-filled finishing village with surrounding garbage. A better way is to go via the main route (~1.5km). There is nothing fancy close to the hotel. There are no shacks or fine-dining restaurants. Having mobility will be good to avoid being innovative in spending time in the hotel. In summary, Courtyard Marriott Colva is a bit of a paradox—an ideal choice for food enthusiasts but might not fully satisfy those seeking a typical beach resort experience. Nevertheless, the culinary experience alone is worth the visit!
