Akalki Hotel & Centro Holístico

Hotel is nice, rooms are comfortable and air conditioning is recommended as temperatures can get too high (lagoon villas don’t have A/C) Being right in the lagoon is the best. Reception staff are kind but need more training. Food is “okay” but don’t expect anything special. As the name stands, it is a “Holistic Center”, they offer esoteric services, even if that’s not your goal or interest it is an essential part of the experience the hotel offers.

**Review of a 5-Day Stay at Akalki Hotel & Centro Holístico** I recently had the pleasure of spending five wonderful days at Akalki Hotel & Centro Holístico, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the incredibly friendly and accommodating staff, Elizabeth and Arath who went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. The grounds of the hotel are expansive and impeccably maintained. Everywhere you look, there's a sense of tranquility and natural beauty that adds to the overall calming atmosphere. Whether strolling through the lush gardens or relaxing by the water, the peaceful environment was a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. One of the highlights of my stay was the crystal-clear freshwater that surrounds the property. The water is absolutely incredible – so clear and refreshing that it felt almost surreal. I spent many hours swimming and simply soaking in the natural beauty of the area. Overall, my stay at Akalki Hotel & Centro Holístico was nothing short of magical. The combination of excellent service, beautiful surroundings, and the serene atmosphere made it a truly unforgettable vacation. I can't recommend it highly enough and look forward to returning in the future.

Everything was great. We went for my wife’s birthday and they provided birthday flowers a cute birthday cake. Very cute intimate place of stay. Everyday we went swimming in the beautiful blue waters, enjoyed the hammocks throughout the grounds, and took advantage of the free kayaks. Even though they only had one restaurant the food was delicious and service was amazing. Dana was the best, she was attentive, sweet, and accommodating. The temple visit was amazing which is only a short walk from the rooms. Overall the staff was accommodating and attentive. One thing to call out which is noted in the room details is there is no AC in the water front rooms which makes it impossible to get a good nights rest since it can get pretty hot in May. The bed does have a standing fan but still can get very uncomfortable at night time when sleeping.

We came here for our honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect! So peaceful and magical! The staff is wonderful, so thoughtful and kind! We will miss Jonser, Dana, and all of the Akalki staff - we wish we could thank everyone by name! We especially enjoyed the trip on the boat with Captain Jan! The food was refreshing, fresh juices, fun cocktails, and simple but delicious dishes made with fresh, whole ingredients! The espresso drinks to order at the restaurant and hot tea brought to the cabana each morning were especially nice to wake up to! Bacalar was a short distance away by car or taxi, and we enjoyed the many great restaurants, evening music and shopping around the central square, especially the many artisans in the pop-up night market at the park! As marine scientists, we especially appreciated the harmonious relationship between Akalki and its environment, a much gentler footprint than a boutique hotel. We got to observe so much wildlife as we wandered the grounds, including a tiny crocodile and so many bird species! We especially enjoyed being able to observe the diverse fish species from the deck at the restaurant or our private deck over the water. Stepping out of the room and into the lagoon just after sunrise is something we will never forget!

This is the most peaceful, relaxing place I've ever experienced. The lagoon water is magical. I just wanted to sit in it all the time. The staff is amazing. There are so many interesting, one of a kind structures on the property. You MUST see the temple! It's breathtaking. I participated in a Temazcal ceremony. I actually had no intention of doing it, but was talked into it. I am not exaggerating when I say it was life changing! It took us 2 days to get there from where we live because there aren't near as many flight choices as there used to be, but IT WAS WORTH IT.

The bungalows with your own lagoon are absolutely beautiful It would’ve been nicer if this place was only for adults And for the price you pay it would be nice to get included a better breakfast, more than just a glass of juice or fruit with a basket of bread.

All the staff is super friendly. No words for the beauty place! Many thanks guys for having us. Our room was awesome and the view WOW! If you wanna spend some days in paradise this is the perfect spot! Isaac, than you so much for your good vibes. I had a message and was incredible!

Staff is incredibly kind & the place is thoughtful in keeping the lagoon’s health and preservation in tact. They serve you fresh fruit, coffee & tea at breakfast, and it offers extra touches such as healthy tea and biscuits delivered and cute setup on the bed after service. There is no AC when staying in the cabanas on the water, so be prepared for the humidity and warm temps. They do offer a fan over the bed underneath the bed net & an additional fan but without a breeze the water is your only form of cooling relief. The grounds are beautiful with tons of vegetation, a temple tour, SUP- stand up paddle boards, boating/sailing options, hammocks to relax, yoga and meditation, even special events such as buffet brunch and ceremonial activities. We loved our SUP guide, Ector, he was especially kind, knowledgeable of the area, and even had fresh fruits and coffee/tea for our outing on the water for sunrise SUP. He also took tons of photos and videos for us with our GoPro. Be prepared for pricing to be a bit higher for food, beverages, and some of the outings.
