Progreso Beach Hotel

I do want to preface this by saying we visited Progreso during the off season and we are not fluent Spanish speakers. We arrived to our hotel and despite paying for an ocean view, the ocean was almost completely blocked by the museum. The towels had stains on them, the water was very weak (I suspect the shower head needs a good deep clean) and it stayed hot for less than 10 minutes. When I inquired about getting a toured booked, the manager said he couldn't call anyone and simply pointed to a direction where a tour business was located. They did not speak English despite what it says on their page. We checked out early.

We were quite pleased. The location is just a few steps to the malecon. Our suite was quite clean and the bed comfortable. All the staff was friendly and helpful. The room decor is minimal at most. The price value though is phenomenal. We would stay here again without hesitation.

This hotel will be loved or hated depending on your expectations. Overall, in the US I would consider this a high quality 2 star hotel. If you are looking for a Hilton or even Courtyard experience, you will be disappointed. Pros: in our room (207) the AC worked great. The room was perfectly clean and a few of the bath fixtures show recent upgrades. The beds were fine (no box spring) and the staff were polite. Location very close to the beach. The price was very affordable. I think I paid US$50 a night with one day notice in the middle of June. There is a small pool at the front. Cons: the furnishings are very basic. 2 beds, small bedside table, desk with bench for sitting. No where to relax or even sit except the bed. Only 2 towels and no other bath linen. Bathroom is small. The staff I encounter spoke almost no English, but did not get upset at my bad Spanish. No elevator. The hotel has 4 stories. And no one to carry bags for you. There are many room types, some suites with dining table and chairs and a fridge, etc. so, if do not not want the sparse room I had and you can speak Spanish, I am sure they can accommodate for a higher rate. Perhaps the most serious issue I had was that there was no way to lock the room door from the inside. The door locks automatically as you enter, so a key is needed, but there is no deadbolt or other way to secure the door from the inside. Now, I note that nearby Merida was just named the safest city in all of North America, including Canada and the US, so maybe this is less of an issue So, if I was driving down I95 and pulled over to a no-name motel, I would find this place to be great. It was clean and is being pretty well maintained, overall. And it is 1 block from an ocean beach that is not too crowded. If you have that expectation in mind, it is just fine and probably as good as the many air bnb nearby for the price. But, if you are looking for a Hampton inn or courtyard designed for American tastes, you will likely be disappointed. .

La ubicación excelente, cerca de la playa y de restaurantes, las instalaciones limpias , el personal muy amable el cuarto de hotel limpio aunque las camas algo duras lo único molesto es la regadera que sale el chorro a presión pero del resto todo excelente, regresaría de nuevo.

El puerto, pueblo y ciudad de Progreso en la costa del Yucatán, en México, sigue siendo un lugar muy pequeño, a pesar de sus 200 años de fundado. Por su condición de pueblo sencillo y modesto, es difícil encontrar hospedaje de calidad. Nada que ver con sus Hermanos Mayores en el Caribe Mexicano, como los alojamientos de Cancun o Tulum, aunque su playa es fronteriza del Golfo de México con el propio Catibe. Progreso, con su benévolo clima todo el año y sus aguas verde esmeralda, cuenta con unos 20 alojamientos "profesionales" o cuando menos, dignos de mención en mi útil Trip... El hotel Progreso Beach, a unos metros de la blanquísima arena es, en pocas palabras EL MEJOR! Limpio, moderno, agradable arquitectura, instalaciones impecables (incluyendo la mejor piscina al aire libre de la región). 3 turnos en recepción que cubren 24/7 con super profesionales: atentos, esmerados y enterados. Limpísimo todo. Habitaciones enormes para el entorno común. Después de haber probado, en diferentes años, unos 4 alojamientos diversos, no tengo la menor duda: EL MEJOR DE PUERTO PROGRESO!

Hotel muy basico para la zona, no es malo ni bueno simplemente basico, su ubicacion es muy buena para la zona, valdria la pena mejorar sus baños y cambiar sus televisiones, antes quedaba frente al malecon pero construyeron un edificio enfrente.

Servicio pésimo, no hubo agua caliente, la TV no servía, jabón rosa Venus?? Champoo de bolsita!! ruido desde las 6am!! No aceptaron la cancelación sin cobro como prometieron y se quedaron con mi DINERO!! Un fiasco!!
