The Westin Beach Resort & Spa at Frenchman’s Reef

This resort is amazing but service still lacking. I'd give the property itself the highest rating but the staff made things a little disappointing. Pros: BEAUTIFUL Resort and location. Several different beaches to choose from on the open ocean side or inlet side near Timeshare resort side. Amazing infinity pools, restaurants and bars. Every restaurant has amazing views. Rooms are brand new and very nicely appointed. Cons: We had the bi-level suite with sofa bed. Normally the sofa bed linens are somewhere in the room but ours was not stocked. We placed a call and App request for this around 5pm. Several phone calls later and a trip to the front desk, they finally arrived after 9:30pm, way past our kids bedtime. This was a simple request that fell short. At checkout watch your folio for accurate billing. Several people had strange charges and our $80 breakfast credit was never applied. The way they present the bill in intentionally misleading and I said it didn't look like the $80 was applied. She tried to convince me it was - I kept pushing and asking where? She then said, oh I think you're right, it was never applied. This place has so much potential to be the best resort on the island if management can make the necessary improvements.

I was here on business last week (5/20-5/23) and it was pretty awesome. I used to live here in the late 90s/early 2000's, so I had remembered Frenchman's Reef to be an execptional place to stay. I know they'd been closed because of a hurricane and just recently re-opened, but after 20+ years I just had to experience it again — even if but for a few days on a work trip. And what an experience it was! First of all, the remodel/reimagining of the spaces is absolutely stunning. MUCH better than I remember. Upon arrival, I was greeted almost immediately by the GM (Jim/James?) who was out front greeting guests as they arrived. I was offered a welcome cocktail and I don't drink — but they had a Bush Tea that was AMAZING. I was informed immediately that my room wasn't quite ready (I'd arrived at noon, so I expected that). But the bellmen were gracious in handling my bag and directing me to the pool bar while I waited. I was informed right away that the property was having an A/C issue, and the rooms were running a little warmer than expected. To be honest, I spent most of my days in boardrooms or out and about, so by the time I got to my room, the temperature was perfect (it was wayyyyy hotter outside). But I respected that they were transparent upon arrival. Throughout my stay, the service staff was superb — lots of smiles and "welcomes" and many of them went out of the way to make sure I was in a good place. A/C issues notwithstanding, the service more than made up for it. I'm planning a trip back to St.Thomas in July, and I will book this place with confidence when I return.

Hotel is nice and room was clean. Nice view and great beach. My issue was the fact the AC was not working the whole time. I called the front desk and they said it was not working in the whole building and they could not fix. During my entire stay the temperature in my room was between 81 and 83f. Moreover the restaurant are really overpriced

I read a lot of negative reviews before attending on a group trip, and wanted to give the resort the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately the reviews were right. From check in to check out, interactions with the staff were a mess - promising to text and email updates or receipts and never doing it, no rooms ready for hours at a time, and the restaurant service was just abysmal. This isn’t just “island time” - orders were forgotten, wrong, took hours to get simple dishes when things weren’t very busy, and the prices are insane for what you’re getting. Some of the staff was really sweet, but each trip to eat was anxiety inducing knowing what was about to happen. There were also little ants all over our room from the minute we arrived - one got into my jewelry box - and the shower looked to have mold in the corner. When we were leaving, the whole hotel AC broke, which was the cherry on top - we were ready to go home! St Thomas is beautiful and the Buoy House beach is nice, but doesn’t really balance out the negative experience overall. The group of about 40 people I was with all had at least one similar story of horrible interactions with staff. I wouldn’t recommend visiting until the hotel gets more hospitality training, and you can definitely get more for your money elsewhere.

I arrived at the hotel this week and was told that the AC was not working. My first thought was to leave, but I gave it a try and it was a great decision. The staff here is truly amazing. They provided me with a branded water bottle at the front desk to use at the water station in the hotel. They had a nice lady circling around with complimentary popsicles, they passed out complimentary drinks, and even had live music in the lobby to give some nice flair. Most hotels don't handle situations like this well, but this hotel is a true definition of hospitality and really takes care of their guests. I will definitely return.

The views are amazing and we enjoyed the sunset and drinks in the lobby Lounge. The bartender Abigail was excellent. Friendly and funny. We also enjoyed the sushi in the lobby as a nice light dinner a couple times. We were lucky to have great weather but make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen and light clothing. Rooms are clean and good size. I also enjoyed the health club, of course I did not go everyday but it was nice.

Kendra at the pool side bar was a wealth of knowledge on where to go and what to see on our trip to St. Thomas. She really made our trip much better and was a total sweetheart to my wife and I with information, not only on where to go, but where not to go. AND!!!… she makes great tropical drinks!

Pretty location and views, good beach, decent food…be prepared to walk, broken ice machines, jet fuel coffee, barely any breeze on the harbor side of the resort got really hot in May…food was better than expected based on past reviews and pricing was to be expected , $21 burger and fries, $10 craft beers…not much to do around resort unless you take an taxi

Was in St Thomas for 8 days- we went to a few places to stay. Last year when visiting we saw this still under construction. Read alot of mixed reviews so tried to keep an open mind when checking in. Check in was smooth, instead of room keys have wrist bands that open your door and lets staff know you are a guest. Our room was pretty nice, wood looking floors, mini fridge, nice Ocean View. There were 2 metal water bottles that were for our taking to use at hydration stations to keep hydrated, which was nice touch. The only negative i can say about the room is - the barn door to the bathroom is waverly glass and you can def make out see when someone is on the toilet or what is going on in the bathroom. Def would not be my choice for "doors". We were on the 7th floor, everything was well marked to find things. There are several pool areas, all very resort/relaxing vibe looking. We went to the Edge bar for a cocktail believe around $15-$16 for a drink fabulous views while enjoying a drink. We wanted to go down to the beach- there is an elevator to take you down-however it was not working. We opted to take the stairs down-which was nicely broken up- easy to do. They also provide shuttles. There is a beautiful beach, which looks like could be strong currents, sandy (not for snorkeling). We walked along the beach there are additionally 3 restaurants part of the Bouy House property. Did a catamaran snorkel tour on the Frenchman Reef new sailboat. Its beautiful. The dock is on property easy to get to. So nice to be able to have activities on sight so not having to drive or get a taxi to. Shorebird, was a nice restaurant for breakfast, $32 buffet. Had a great selection of all the breakfast items. Felt it was one of the more well priced meals we had. We asked for late checkout was able to extend our checkout time by 2 hours. It looked like the resort was very busy with lots of people. Feel its def great for couples or ones with adult kids. Not sure I would want to travel here if I had small children. Views of great sunsets, and watching the cruise ships come in and out of port was extra bonus.
