Horizon Hotel & Yoga Center

My 8th visit to CR and 3rd to Santa Teresa. I came to Horizon to restore and reset after a long tough time recovering from a difficult family loss. My main objective has been to kickstart my wellness routine after a year and a half of being out of synch - exercise, healthy living, kind people with good vibes, fresh food prepared with love, surf, hike and priceless sunrises and sunsets. So far, I have found all of that at Horizon. Horizon is a quaint and charming mountain retreat, located a short walk up the mountain side of town. A trail interconnects all of the various element of this boutique resort. Gali and Yuav offer the perfect balance of being available while also maintaining privacy. There has not been a request that I have made that hasn’t been met in a very timely manner. Yuav is the best kept secret in ST - a true Renaissance man. I’m 100% straight, by the way. Yuav is a 5 star chef, while also maintaining a demanding resort management role. Did I mention that he is also a top notch yoga instructor? He also maintains many hobbies that most would find very interesting. I would be very surprised if there was a request made by a guest that he could not, or would not, satisfy. Gali is hands on and doesn’t miss much. She truly loves and breaths this hospitality experience. A few points of note: - If you are looking for a chain hotel, Horizon is not for you. You will not find staff that went to a brand name HRIM college or University. Frankly, you will find better here. - If you don’t like the charm of an old bohemian town that has evolved quite a bit since my first visit 30 years ago, this is not for you. - Costa Rica has evolved and is now a town that is represented globally. Not everyone here is a Tica. There are many cultures represented in ST, and the language and cultural shifts can create a disappointment if you’re not able to communicate properly. This is okay, in my opinion, by the way, as the food options here are more diverse and authentic than any big city in America, while still maintaining that beach side bohemian charm. Just be sure to choose your body language and words wisely as there can be a risk of gross misinterpretation and/or losing a friendship over same. - This is Costa Rica. The first thing I do when I arrive is obtain an ATV for my entire stay. Taxis are available and the drivers are super friendly and informative. But if you are a slave to taxis and walking everywhere, you may miss out on some of the charm and experiences. Full disclosure - I grew up on horses, dirt bikes and ATVs. I have been all over the world and have stayed at top 20 rated resorts in many countries, but Horizon is right there with the best of them. The website doesn’t nearly do justice to this place.

The setting is really nice. The garden with the little pool is beautiful. I had a studio and I was so impressed by the set up, decorations and cleanliness. The kitchen unit is fully equipped. Coffee is complimentary. The balcony is very spacious with an amazing view over the ocean. Wonderful place to recharge in Santa Teresa.

Well-equipped private bungalows in a beatifully landscaped complex with exquisite attention to details. The pura vida yoga ambience is evident everywhere you look. Loved the privacy awnings and the fan on the balcony terasse, we were comfortably cool any time of day and in the evenings. The owners are on-site and incredibly friendly and helpful, as is the staff from gardener and security to restaurant wait staff.

we spent a week in the horizon horel and enjoyed the time very much. The cabins are very clean and well furnished. The atmosphere is wonderful, with warm little things the guest will be shown to be welcome. Yoga on the wonderful deck was great and places always prepared. We didn't miss anything. One reason we picked Horizon was because of their 5 star ratings from all who wrote a review. I had never seen this before with such a large number of reviewers. I can honestly say that now I on the list as well. What a marvelous experience! Our villa was absolutely perfect for our family of four. Big bedrooms, very comfortable beds and beautiful balconies overlooking our private pool and our backyard. We often used the pool to either wake up in the morning or cool down from time spent on the beach. I spent many an afternoon laying in my hammock outside on our balcony, reading and enjoying then breeze. I often heard the sounds of howler monkeys and many varieties of birds in the background. The kitchen was well used by us for breakfasts. There is everything you need to cook whatever you want. The coffee machine also was used daily. We love the tasty Costa Rican coffee. Horizon is on a hill overlooking Santa Teresa. Short walk down the hill and you are in the middle of everything. Cross the street and there is a path to the beach. Take a left and you are minutes away from bakeries, restaurants, tour agencies, supermarkets, pharmacies, ATM’s….it really is in the perfect location. The owners of the hotel, Yoav and Gali are warm and welcoming. They truly put their heart and soul into Horizon and it shows. They are available at all times and will help with whatever you need. It was truly a wonderful experience and we can not wait to visit again. It will feel like seeing old friends. Enjoy

Yoav and Gali have created a beautiful retreat space at this villa hotel, truly embodying the Pura Vida lifestyle. The very spacious and well-appointed private villas are tucked away in the greenery and adorned with so much love and care including handmade seashell décor and Bali inspired artwork that is aesthetically pleasing. The many carefully designed stone staircases lead to delightful views as we made our way to the Café and Yoga studio overlooking the ocean below. This very private and secure yoga hotel offers a holistic experience with twice daily yoga classes and healthy organic food for breakfast and lunch. The yoga classes are taught by exceptional instructors, with a special mention to Yoav's class. His strong voice and presence provided a tremendous grounding experience as we began the class on our stomachs listening to the ocean waves below us. The dining experience is exceptional, featuring fresh, organic foods served with so much love by both Gali and Yoav. They need to create their own cookbook! It's the best place in town for breakfast and lunch, surpassing even the well-reviewed Bakery in town. A true oasis in bustling Santa Teresa, surpassing expectations and offering a peaceful place to retreat on your own private balcony with all the comforts of home including hammocks.

A simply AMAZING place to stay and visit. Cannot recommend this hotel enough. Gorgeous villas with all the amenities you could need or ask for. A beautiful restaurant with delicious, healthy food and really great service. Fantastic yoga classes with a view of the ocean and sunset. Very central location right next to the beach and with great restaurants next door. You won’t regret staying here or simply going for a meal or yoga class. If/when I come back to Santa Teresa, I will look forward to staying here again.

Magical Vacation We just had a magical vacation at Hotel Horizon in Santa Teresa. The villa was comfortable with a private pool. The staff is super friendly and nice. Great WiFi. Yummy food. We will be back soon. must try the yoga classes with the ocean view. Thank you!!!

Gali and Yoav, the owners run this hotel with their big hearts and it shows. The yoga teachers are excellent (take Yoav's class if you can), the restaurant is heathy and delicious (hello Greek salad with homemade tahini and pita), the masseuses' - (ask for Lucy) are top notch and we loved our ocean view treehouse (room 3). It's rare to get an ocean view which makes this place special. It's close to the beach, the restaurants and most importantly The Bakery!
