Now Emerald Cancun - All Inclusive

Toen we aankwamen werden we begroet door een portier die onze temperatuur opnam en een bagageticket voorzag. Toen we terugkwamen om onze bagage te pakken, gaven we hem ons kaartje. Terwijl we zaten te wachten, begonnen 2 andere personeelsleden tegen ons te schreeuwen (ik zeg dit losjes maar het was agressief) om "hem onze bagage te laten zien". We legden uit dat we de portier ons kaartje al hadden gegeven en nogmaals, "laat me gewoon zien welke van jou is!". Wat is in hemelsnaam het nut van een bagageticket als je ze niet eens gaat gebruiken. Ik heb veel waardevolle spullen bij me en als je me mijn tas wilt laten inleveren, kun je mensen maar beter niet gewoon "hun eigen tas laten kiezen" zonder enig bewijs! Dit stuurde in feite het precedent voor ons hele verblijf. Als je een blessure hebt, problemen hebt met lopen of een andere handicap, VERMIJD DEZE PLAATS TEN ALLEN KOSTEN (en zelfs als je dat niet doet). Ze zetten ons op de eerste verdieping. Om bij mijn kamer te komen, moesten we de lift naar de 2e verdieping nemen om verschillende bochten en trappen af te dalen om naar de 1e straatverdieping te gaan. We hadden honger en gingen op zoek naar iets om te eten in dit "AI-resort". Deze plek is een doolhof. Elke plaats die we uiteindelijk vonden, ging niet eens open tot 6 uur. Het buffet was open, maar zelfs als ik honger had, zou ik NOOIT ZO hongerig zijn. We hebben eindelijk de "snackbar" gevonden. De drankjes waren vergelijkbaar met Tang + een oz Popov. We hebben de nacho's en hamburger. Beiden waren koud en droog. We gaan terug naar onze kamer en het zou een compliment zijn om het niet indrukwekkend te noemen. De kast brak toen ik hem opendeed. De flesopener was zo gecorrodeerd dat de bierfles brak. De stopcontacten waren zo gecorrodeerd dat ze niet meer werkten. De tv had enkele maanden stof en roest. De plinten waren WALGELIJK. en kussens hadden haren en vlekken. Onze telefoon werkte niet eens, dus we konden niemand bellen voor hulp. Waar ik het meest enthousiast over was, was het dompelbad. Het was zo troebel dat de opstap / stoel daar nauwelijks zichtbaar was. Het dek was kapot en vervallen. Toen ik de staat van onze kamer uitlegde, hebben ze ons een upgrade gegeven naar de "bruidssuite" die binnen 20 - 30 minuten klaar zou zijn. We wachtten 45 minuten in onze kamer voordat ons geduld op was. We kunnen niet bellen, weet je nog? Dus sjouwden we onze bagage terug naar de lobby en vroegen hem wat er aan de hand was. Als de kamer nog niet klaar is, is dat geen probleem. Maar laat me niet wachten in mijn kamer zonder update Ga eindelijk naar de kamer en het is groot en het uitzicht was SCHITTEREND. Maar... wat is een grote kamer zonder verlichting en een plek om te zitten? Ik heb dit bed onmiddellijk gecontroleerd en er was NIETS BEDEKKING OP DE MATRAS! Ze zeiden dat ze het zouden komen repareren. Voor het avondeten gingen we naar Spice. Het bier was warm, de ragoons waren zo goed als leeg. Ik heb nog nooit een dunner stuk zalm bovenop een sushirol gezien, het grootste deel van de rol was roomkaas en rijst. De tostada was echter zo lekker dat we er uiteindelijk nog 6 bestelden en het dessert met zoete room was GEWELDIG. Toen we terugkwamen, lieten ze ons een laken achter. Konden ze niet eens de moeite nemen om het bed correct voor ons op te maken? We moesten terugbellen om iemand naar boven te sturen. Er was geen bestek of roerstokjes voor de koffie (dit is kleinzielig, ik weet het, maar het is op dit moment slechts een collectief probleem). Het bed was ECHT HARD. Dus gewoon iets om op te letten. Het enige meubilair erin was een WALGELIJK, kleine stoel, tafel en tv die nauwelijks zichtbaar waren vanuit bed. Wees voorzichtig, want er is een kleine opstap vanuit de "slaapkamer" en er is GEEN OVERHEADVERLICHTING. De enige lichten in de kamer waren de 2 leeslampjes op het bed. Ze moesten een zaklamp gebruiken toen ze ons een enkele lamp kwamen bezorgen. We deden roomservice voor het ontbijt. Het was niet verschrikkelijk, maar het was niet goed. Het fruit was erg vers. Eten zonder tafel en stoelen was vervelend. Ik had drankjes van waarschijnlijk 6 verschillende barmannen voordat ik er een vond die een goed drankje kon maken. Een van de beste mojito's die ik ooit heb gehad. We deden "voorkeursclub". Ze controleren niet, dus het heeft geen zin. Laat je niet afschrikken door de "dresscode".

Het eten is niet goed, en het eten is erg traag, wachtend in de rij voor de maaltijd, en dineren om 11 uur 's avonds, er zijn weinig soorten, en een klein restaurant doet 's avonds diner, wat ver van het vijfsterrenhotel gemarkeerd.

It's a great place to spend your vacation at Cancun. The pools and beaches are amazing, and the service is immaculate. Highly recommend for a great price.

Spent a week at the Now Emerald Cancun in the beginning of June. We usually stay in the Riviera Maya area, but tried something new to hopefully get away from the sargassum. And in that regard, the resort was fine - little sea**** and a nice beach. But the resort itself was dated, services were inconsistent, and food was sub-par. Room: we were in a Preferred Club Premium with Plunge Pool room. We were on an upper floor with a nice view. Some people we spoke to said that the couple of thunderstorms we had in the evenings flooded their floor, so I would definitely not have liked to be on a lower level. The room was OK, although the only furniture other than the bed was an easy chair. It would have been nice to have either a second chair or a small sofa so that both my wife and I could have a place to sit other than one having to be on the bed. The privacy lock on the door didn't work, and when I put in a maintenance request to fix it, even though the app said the work was complete, it still didn't work. There is no safety chain or anything, so I was a bit leery of not having some sort of additional lock. There was a Nepresso style coffee maker in the room, which we thought would be great since we're both big coffee drinkers. But the machine barely worked, sometimes making a full double shot of espresso but other times only dribbling out a few drops of coffee and making a mess of leaked water on the tray under the machine. And housekeeping only brought coffee pods once during our week long stay - we had to ask for them most of the time. Housekeeping also was inconsistent about replacing towels, so we had to ask for more on a couple of occasions, and one day they didn't make up the bed. Pools - there is only a swim-up bar at the main pool. It has a waterfall that cascades over the entire length of the bar, so if that's operating, you can't really walk away from the bar with a drink easily. The swim-up bar is also separated from the surrounding pool such that you need to either hop up over the pool wall or get out and re-enter the bar pool area if you want to go there, which I found annoying. The adults only pool is 8 or 9 feet deep for about half of the pool area, which might be ok if you want to swim some laps for exercise, but which was mostly a waste since no one really used that part of the pool. Bar service at the pools was mostly good, although better at the main pool than the adults only. Food - probably the biggest area of concern at the Now Emerald. The buffet was typical of Cancun all inclusives, although somewhat small and with less selection than I had expected. The Italian restaurant was a complete fail, bringing us the wrong food, then not bringing the appetizers we ordered, then finally bring the correct entrees after a long wait. And it struck me that, for an Italian place, they really had no Italian entrees on the menu. We had once nice meal at the French restaurant, but it was only open one night out of the 7 we were there. We arrive at what we thought at the least a 4 star rating hotel. It should not be rated but closed. The rooms are nasty, mold in the bathroom, floors crumbling, the seating stained. If you have hip trouble or minor trouble with lifting your leg, this is definitely a problem. You have to climb into the dirty tub to take a shower. The was a power outage at the hotel, not the town, just this hotel. I complained to the concierge with no resolution regarding the bathroom. Had to go to management twice regarding the staff ****** attitude towards us.

Overall the resort was very nice. The hotel is a little outdated but I didn’t have any major issues. I wasn’t sure if they were preparing for renovations like other Now resorts. The restaurants were also very good. I especially loved the Asian restaurant. The sunset views are spectacular! The restaurant is on the upper level with no fans or ventilation so it does get hot. But it did not prevent me from dining there several times! I loved the Mexican restaurant also! Excellent menu, great service and a**osphere! The French restaurant was very good as well! The entertainment was also very good! There was a fire show and Mexican Night featuring traditional songs and dances. I met wonderful people from all over the world and my fitness classes were popular and everyone seemed very easy going and accommodating.

The facility is large. The buildings are old and need serious renovations. The room, lobby, restaurants, everything is outdated. The food at restaurants are mediocre. They have blue and black wristband and and regular customers wear blue band and these people are not allowed to enter certain restaurants that are specifically for the black wristband customers, which is really annoying. The coffee shop at the lobby area is for the black wristband so I was not allowed to buy any coffees. Nothing special about this place. The pool is large but just noisy with DJ all day long. If you need peaceful and quiet hotel, this is not the place to be. We were sent by our airline when our flight got canceled. No way we would not choose this place for our vacation.
