Pestana Colombos Premium Club All Inclusive

We zijn niet lang teruggekomen van dit hotel. We bezochten op 30 augustus voor een week. Zodra we het hotel binnenkwamen, kregen we het advies om onze maskers te dragen, ook om de handen te desinfecteren. We moesten in de rij staan om in te checken. Bij het inchecken kregen we te horen dat de kamer nog 1 uur klaar was. Na 1 uur gingen we terug naar de receptie om naar onze kamer te worden gebracht. De eerste indruk was donker en groezelig en het geluid van buiten mensen die lachten en grappen maakten. Toen we uit het balkon keken, waren we boven de personeelskamer en ze waren buiten aan het roken en schreeuwen. De airco-bediening hing aan de muur en de vloer was vies. Na het indienen van een klacht kregen we te horen dat er geen kamers beschikbaar waren om ons in te plaatsen. We zaten in de foyer totdat ze ons een andere kamer hadden gegeven. De kamer waar we naar toe gingen was hetzelfde, vies, stoffig en spinnenwebben aan de muren. Als dit hotel in Engeland was, denk ik dat het gesloten zou zijn vanwege een gebrek aan hygiëne. We hebben opnieuw geklaagd en kregen te horen dat ze contact met ons zouden opnemen als ze een andere kamer beschikbaar hadden. Raad eens wat nooit contact met ons heeft opgenomen !!!!!!!!!!. Ik heb talloze contacten gelegd met Tui online App, om een antwoord te krijgen waren ze bezig en zouden ze bij ons terugkomen..... Dit zette onze vakantie volledig onder druk. Ik zou nooit meer naar dit hotel reizen!!! Een deel van het personeel sprak geen Engels, dus kon ons niet verstaan aan de telefoon als er een probleem was. Dit hotel heeft een complete overhal nodig, gezien de prijs die zij rekenen voor een 5-sterrenhotel. De gootsteen was ook niet schoongemaakt, er zat zwarte schimmel aan de randen die alleen moest worden afgeveegd. Plus buiten het hotel is er niets in de buurt, zoals bars en winkels. Dus het was als een gevangenkamp. Het enige wat ik leuk vond was het strand. Het eten was repetitief ... Nauwelijks entertainment, 1 bar per avond, dat was een cocktailbar, dus weer in de rij staan. al het entertainment was in het zusterhotel Porto Santo.

Bezocht in 21 september naar het eiland waar ik nog nooit van had gehoord vóór covid en ging alleen omdat het GROEN was. Lees veel recensies en was een beetje sceptisch omdat sommigen zo geweldig waren. Hotel zag er op sommige plaatsen een beetje moe uit en het is geen erg mooi hotel, maar de kamers zijn uitstekend. We hadden een heel groot balkon met uitzicht op zee, een enorm vrijstaand bad in de vorm van een ei en een tv met knal en olsen. Alle medewerkers waren geweldig en hebben geen idee waarom de cocktailbarman in eerdere beoordelingen was gepland, omdat we hem fantastisch vonden. Slechts 4 van de 5 gegeven omdat het buffetrestaurant een beetje repetitief werd, maar stel dat dat gebeurt wanneer je 14 nachten verblijft. Ik zou het aanraden, maar denk niet dat je 14 nachten nodig hebt, aangezien het eiland erg klein is en niet enorm veel te doen?

The most relaxing holiday ever. Pools and grounds very clean and well kept. This hotel is not 5 star as classed but still a lovely stay. Food was okay but very much the same over the two weeks . Deserts were lovely. Sun beds always available around the pool but need updating as they were very uncomfortable. Beach was beautiful but the sea was quite rough and very few people were able to swim. Sun beds were charged for on the beach and could only have in multiples of two, so three of us had to pay for four sun beds. Entertainment was poor, non existing some evenings and always after 10pm which is very late to wait around. 4x4 tour was a lovely few hours out. Two weeks in this hotel is so relaxing if the weather is good.

My husband and I spent a week here from the 18th Sep. We originally booked into the Porto Santo hotel but were told on arrival we had been upgraded to a pool villa within the Columbus hotel next door. Initially we were really pleased to have an upgraded room within a villa block with just 3 other bedrooms each having shared access to lounge, kitchen and private pool. Although as there was shared facilities avaliable we did later feel that our room was perhaps a bit smaller than others in the main hotels due to no other lounge / seating area other than the balcony in the room. Cannot fault the hotel rooms or grounds for cleanliness, room cleaned daily. All ammenities are within walking distance at the two hotels. Choice of pool bar, evening bar and buffet resturant at both hotels so you can decide which suits you best or try both options to get a bit of variety. There are queues at the pool and evening bars for drinks as people have previously said. This can get a bit frustrating but you get used to it. We never had a problem queuing for the buffet resturants. Weather was really good, hotter than I expected during the day, it can start out cloudy but cleared by lunch time to have a hot afternoon. We did have rain a couple of mornings but again cleared for the afternoon. The staff are all friendly and do their best to accomodate your needs even though they do work long shifts and perhaps under staffed. The entertainment team are surprisingly good and do a range of shows on the evening plus live music in the bars before their shows. Overall we really enjoyed the holiday, good food and drinks, good weather, comfortable room and a relaxing break. Would recommend this resort to couples and younger families.

Well after so many negative reviews, we were getting worried about the hotel. But no need to worry as we can say we are having a great time. The food to date is excellent and the accommodation is great. We still have a week to go. One person that needs congratulations is Jose in the outside area of the restaurant, he is so attentive and a credit to the Columbus Pestana. Also the island is truly fantastic, with amazing people, and a first class beach. Looking forward to week 2, this is our 8th visit to the Columbus and love it❤️

Firstly, this hotel is unsuitable for disabled people,although the bathrooms are very suitable The self service restaurant is very poor and guests are limited to beer or wine at mealtime. We tried the poolside food area but found flies on the food. The speciality restaurants are at the hotel next-door and although they offer a complimentary buggy, it still involves a lengthy walk to reception and the same on the return. Fine for the fit and able., We tried the maderian restaurant on one occasion,but it was just about passable. We ate out for most days as there are some very good restaurants nearby and very reasonable. My impression is that the hotel was built with the intension of combining the facilities of the hotel next-door. Everything was cheap money saving products and produce. On a positive side we fell in love with the island and the people. We are planning to return in the winter but not to pestana.

We are habitués at Pestana Colombos and at Pestana hotels in general. People say you don't go back to a place where you were happy. But we come back every year and we don't regret it. On the contrary, there is always something that makes us want to come back even more! It's a great hotel in the "paradise" island! Very friendly staff, great rooms and in the all inclusive option it's difficult to offer better diversity. You have to make your own experience and I'm sure you'll want to come back!

Don’t believe all the negative reviews. Our experience has been pretty amazing. We always found something to eat but it is limited so very fussy people could struggle. The rooms are clean, spa is very nice, the pools are fab, all the staff are friendly and go out of their way to help, the kids really loved the animation team and the beach is absolutely fantastic.

We switched to this hotel from their next door property. Rooms are beautiful and large. The staff here are really on top of things. The pool area is gorgeous although not a lot of swimmers due to water temperature. Don’t love a buffet although there is an omelette or eggs to order area in the back which is the best breakfast option. They have a great assor**ent of cheeses.
