The Varsity Hotel & Spa

The room at Cambridge Varsity is on the smaller side and shows a bit of age (a little dusty in spots, which is pretty standard for a European boutique hotel in this price range). However, the location is absolutely excellent for exploring the city. What really blew me away, though, were the unexpected highlights. The hotel restaurant on the 6th floor and the rooftop bar are absolute gems—the food was delicious, and the panoramic views over Cambridge are simply breathtaking. But the true hero of our stay was the staff, particularly Dave. He went above and beyond to help my pre-teen son fix up one of the hotel bikes so he could ride it to the bike park. That small gesture turned into the absolute highlight of our trip for him. If you’re okay with a cozy room in exchange for incredible service, a stunning rooftop, and a prime location, this is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended!

Had the most amazing experience staying at this hotel! Perfect location and the service was 10/10. The spa was a really nice treat to finish the trip. We will be back!

Clean, friendly staff and nice spa.

The hotel was situated in town centre. Walkable to the river, local attractions and restaurants. We had a lovely stay and they have a small spa located next door which we used one morning. We did not eat breakfast there so unable to comment on food, the rooftop bar was lovely for drinks. Our door was difficult to open but staff were helpful and efficient.

Great rooftop terrace. Staff good when you're dealing with them (checkin, room service, etc), but too many staff hanging around, using the lifts, talking in the corridors, chatting in their staff rooms with the doors open to the public, expecting you to get out of their way, etc. Who is the customer here?

Friendly and helpful staff. We borrowed bikes and had a great trip out to the meadows for a picnic
