The Duke Hotel

Just had an amazing lunch at The Duke. From the starter, through the main course to the dessert it was first class. Cookery of the highest order and top class hospitality from Brandon. We will recommend the Duke to our friends and hope to return soon. The guys here deserve to be a success so give them a try.

I ate here with a friend a few days ago and had a lovely meal. The welcome was warm, the service was good and the food was lovely - the best I've had locally for a long time. My special request for a starter (steak tartare) was accommodated and delicious and the roast pork belly was lovely. I'm looking forward to visiting again. And to the earlier reviewer complaining about getting a Yorkshire with his roast: leave it if you don't want it but don't spoil it for the rest of us. A Yorkshire is a welcome addition to any roast, not just beef !

Just wow!! As a vegan I struggle to get a decent meal around here. I've been following The Duke on social media since it was taken over a few months ago. What an amazing job the new owners have done, the place looks lovely (especially the ladies loo!). The food has an Asian/Japanese influence. We went for lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We skipped starters (sadly) because we decided on the Bento Box. I went for the veggie one and my husband had the teriyaki chicken one. Now these can be shared but I wasn't sharing. A complimentary 'nibble' of puffed rice crackers and herbed mayo dip arrived which was a nice touch. Opening the Bento Box was so exciting, it was THE best meal I've had out in ages! So much flavour, crispy tempura batter and that miso aubergine... oh, and the salad dressing! I've never been so in love with salad leaves! Just remember to pod the endamame beans...ha ha! We finished with lemon sorbet affogato, it was small but absolutely delicious and after that huge lunch probably perfect. Let's talk about the service. There is a 12% service charge added to the bill. Do not let this put you off! The service was outstanding! The dad of one of the owners was in charge of front of house while his son was away. He did a great job of covering. Super helpful and checking if we needed anything extra, I can not wait to go again and try out the other dishes.

The best food I've ever had in Wiltshire. I've done many Michellen stars but this place was sublime. So friendly, informal and stunning food. The host is a truly beautiful soul. Go guys, you have got it spot on. Finally a stunning place on my doorstep. Thankyou

The Duke will definitely be a regular eatery for us! A warm welcome, excellent service and a fantastic lunch in this newly and tastefully renovated pub/restaurant. My friend and I had the lamb dish which was superb followed by the crème brûlée. Luck enough to have a sunny day the garden was a lovely place to sit and finish our drinks. Good luck to the new owners.

Just had an amazing Sunday lunch - our first visit since the new owners took over. The pub has been refurbished and looks fantastic. The menu is incredible and at a very reasonable price considering the quality. Service and welcome were both brilliant; this place will soon become one of the most popular eateries in the area. Don’t just take my word for it - get yourself over there and try for yourself!

We tried out the Duke restaurant on Saturday 20th April on their first official day reopening with new owners and we're very impressed. The menu and look has definitely gone "up-market" but the prices were still reasonable and the food was delicious. I was there with my partner and our son (5), and the staff were very welcoming and friendly to all of us. Even our little boy enjoyed the food and sometimes he's a little picky at restaurants. We've already booked to go back :)

New landlords - opening night, great to see a warm, happy, friendly atmosphere - all good signs of a village pub being ran the way it should. Everyone has welcomed the new landlords - the new refreshed menu looks great, the beer is reasonably priced and the garden/grounds have all be refurbished! Get over and pay these guys a visit!

Sunday roast at The Duke Hotel is next level up! Succulent pork topped with perfect crackling. The turkey was moist (sorry) and the accompanying veg, potatoes and Yorkshires were amazing. Service here is always warm and friendly and you feel like you can really relax and fill your boots. Excellent value for money. What’s stopping you?!
