So I booked this place last minute as I was locked out of the house so I needed somewhere nearby to stay. It was £99 for the night which I thought was reasonable As it was a last minute booking. When I got to the travelodge I found it a little bit confusing as there was a carpark (It was quite late and dark, so I couldn’t see much) at the bottom of the building, so I was unsure if that was a carpark or that was a used car show room. Eventually, I saw the “ Travelodge” And was able to park on a side of the road nearby with no issues. When I went in, I realised that the reception was on the sixth floor Which was quite weird, but nevertheless - I made my way upstairs. As I entered the concierge, there was this foul stench that smelt almost like a gym changing room. It was hot and it smelt like the windows had not been opened all day. It was one of those smells that you naturally, push your lip up and squeeze your face. Absolutely horrible! I’m surprised the reception staff was able to work and greet customers in that environment, it smelt like musty armpit! I waited at the desk for about three minutes before someone came out greet me whilst the staff were having their own. personal conversation in the back room (Mind you, I had to kind of prompt someone to come out by making a lot of noise for someone to hear and eventually see that I was waiting to be served). Two men came out one middle-age man and a young man I look like he was probably in about his 20s. I could be mistaken, but they look like father and son, anyways, The middle-age man then asked me if I wanted to “check in” Which was a little bit annoying as I had been standing there, waiting for almost 3 minutes with my bags and jacket on…what else would I be doing at the reception desk at 11pm Einstein? Young man in his 20s, ended up serving me, there was a lot of faffing about going on and it took him about five minutes to log onto one of the computers and find my booking. At this point, you can imagine I’m becoming quite frustrated because I’ve been standing here for almost 10 minutes and all I wanna do is get upstairs and lay down. Eventually I was given my key card and was told that I was in room 717. I went upstairs found my room went inside and was shocked, The TV looks like a laptop screen on the wall. The curtains look like they could do with a wash I could see dust everywhere. The charger sockets were limited and away from the bed, which was really annoying. I eventually Decided to get into The shower just to find that there was no soap in the dispenser. At that point, I wasn’t even going to go downstairs to the concierge to ask them to refill this. I just made my way to the shop and bought some site which is pretty inconvenient if you ask me.
