The Babbling Brook

We visited twice during our weeks holiday. Had the Sunday carvery absolutely fabulous and an evening meal, also totally amazing. Friendly attentive staff ! an amazing exerience, well recommended! Thank you!

I stayed at the Babbling Brook for one night and was really pleased with my garden room, lovely spacious room with everything you need. Shower lacked a bit of power but that was my only gripe, it was a nice, relaxing room, overlooking the garden. Communication was really good leading up to my stay, and it was a friendly pub in a nice village location. Food at the pub was brilliant, would recommend the steak on the hot volcanic rock, very tasty! Will definitely stay again when back visiting family.

Very tastefully furnished rooms. Comfy beds, adequate showers and all we needed for an overnight stay. Just a pity that the rooms lacked lighting - a change of lightbulbs would make all the difference. Enjoyed a great evening meal in the pub.

Driving towards the hotel to stay over the night before a meeting with work. At 7 mins past 2pm I get an email saying that it’s best to stop off and buy your self some food for your evening meal as the restaurant is closed on a monday oh and please follow the instructions to find your room as it’s self check in. The cancellation cut off was 2pm, so you lose your payment if you try to cancel. (That’s sneaky and disgusting) Basically no one on site, found a bit of paper taped to the door with a mobile number on it. Rang the number of course no answer. Walk around looking for the room and finally find it unlocked with key inside. Got inside to more of a nightmare. Opened the bathroom door to a bath tub full of cob webs and 4-5 large spiders in the bath. Found cob webs all over the place. (Has this place been cleaned recently) if it was there certainly wouldn’t be a bath tub full of spiders. 6.30am woken up to the fire alarm in the cottage room. None stop for 10 mins, all the guests from the 4 cottages all stood in the rain looking for some sort of staff to help with the situation. I had to go walking around the premises where I found a house fenced off. Knocking on the window for help 5 minutes later someone appears. Tried to have a bath as the shower pressure is basically none existent, no hot way just slightly warm. This is 2023 we pay a lot of money for accommodation and it should not be like this. In my eyes do yourself a favour and avoid this place like the plague it’s utterly disgraceful.

Bed had broken spring and felt like a water bed. Shower went from warm to scalding hot when dials not touched. Toilet seat didn't natch Toilet. Shelf and toilet roll hokder broken. Radiator very warm. On the plus side , nice surroundings good food ..

Poor all round

Ok. The room was slightly disappointing for the money, peeling paint and cobwebs. Room not cleaned or coffee topped up during my stay. The rooms are in an outbuilding in the pub garden so it can be quite noisy. You have to park at the back of the pub and walk all the way around, there are no lights in this area so finding the correct room in the dark with hands full of luggage was difficult. The room was quite dingy due to large vegetation in the garden. To get a tiny bit of light, you have to have the blind open which means anyone in the pub garden can see in. No hot water on one day. Pros: friendly staff, great food in the pub.
