Albergo Delle Drapperie

Amazing central hotel. Rooms are clean and beautiful. Staff are super kind. This was our first visit, and we received a free upgrade by pure luck. The bed was particularly comfortable and came with two pillows a person. Room was very aesthetic. I can’t think of any problems.

of the 14 hotels we stayed in over our 8 week holiday, excuse me for saying that this was one of 2 locations that i was a little concerned about. i usually go by my gut feeling and as it turned out, i had completely nothing to worry about. i cannot say enough how happy we were to have stayed here. all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. the location was perfect for what we needed. close to everything and the eateries were probably the best food we ate in all of Italy. thank you to everyone for making our 3 night stay very memorable and we would return to this hotel without a second thought.

I have a very mixed feeling about this hotel. There is potential for this hotel to be something really special and it isn’t. I think that the photos on here are a bit deceptive. It is in the most brilliant location amongst the hustle and bustle of the markets and people coming and going. It is a stone’s throw away from all the key sights in Bologna. Our double room was spotlessly clean and very basic and that was fine. What it needed was maybe some shelves in the wardrobe to put your clothes on. We worked out that the safe didn’t work and after the toilet flush broke twice we weren’t overly impressed. There is no sound proofing and that is probably to do with the age of the place, but you can hear literally everything going on in the room next door… Breakfast on our first morning wasn’t a triumph with a stewed filter coffee and a dodgy cappuccino. Which led us on the following two mornings to find breakfast somewhere else at a very jolly cafe around the corner. This hotel could be brilliant, it is crying out for some updating, it has a really bohemian look which is interesting, it has a lovely old lift in it and interesting art on the walls. The stair rods holding the carpet in place on the stairs come loose and sooner or later someone will go flying down the stairs. We really wanted to say that we loved staying here and the reviews on here say as much, but we didn’t enjoy staying here, and it was just disappointing for the money we spent to stay there. Previous to this we had stayed in Turin for three nights-same price, really lovely hotel with attentive staff, so it was disappointing even trying to get a cup of hot water because we weren’t staying in a better room so couldn’t have a kettle because there weren’t enough. The two receptionists were smiling but we really felt that even they look slightly fed up with it all. When we checked out, I couldn’t bring myself to say it had been lovely, which is sad and I hope this hotel can have a face lift, it could keep it’s character but just do a bit of fine tuning!

This lovely charming hotel is just so perfectly located, you think you are in an 1960s Italian movie. It’s beautifully decorated inside as depicted in the many photos people have posted and stepping out in the morning to street vendors with gorgeous displays of fresh fruit and colourful vegetables next to a flower shop overflowing with beautiful blooms is simply magical. And yes, there are also fresh fish vendors on the street where people queue up for the beautiful fish from Wed-Friday, But the smell was not bad when we were there. As the hotel is in the historic section, the streets just steps away and just bustle with activity. There are tons of bistros, restaurants, enotecas, adorable shops of every type and it’s all just enchanting. The breakfast provided is much better than average. There are over 20 items to choose from (cereal, yogurts, cured meats, fruits, veggies, ricotta cheese, other cheeses, croissants, baked goods, coffee, fresh cappuccino made to order - lovely!) The reception staff are helpful and most spoke some English. They offered to book our taxi to the train which we appreciated. The room was clean and cleaned every day. The location is really central and within easy walking distance to so many sites. All in all, we loved our stay at Albergó delle Drapoerie!!

I just spent 4 nights at the Albergo delle Drapperie and it was the perfect hotel for a single tourist in a great location in Bologna. I would highly recommend it. It is just off the Piazza Maggiore down a small side street surrounded by restaurants, bars, and food stores. It is a small hotel with smallish rooms but it is very clean. The best part of the experience was the very helpful and friendly staff both at the front desk and persons attending to breakfast in the mornings. And the location can’t be beat.

Brilliant stay - amazing location, very authentic Italian guest house with very friendly & helpful staff. Beautiful rooms with amazing view onto the streets below. Breakfast was also very extensive by Italian standards, left a very happy & full guest. Highly recommend!!

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. we stayed in the Junior suite, it was really lovely a romantic feel to the room. Excellent size and spotless the cleaners were very thorough. The bathroom was also big with a shower cubicle the power of the shower was excellent and we had constant hot water, it was 37 degrees on one of the days we were there the air conditioning was also excellent at all times of our stay. We took two medium cases as we read that it was a struggle with large cases because of the stairs, this advice was great it was easy enough with the medium size cases we only had to carry them up two flights to the reception then we got the lift to the 3rd floor the lift is small but we dint find this an issue for two people plus the medium cases. Excellent location literally everything on your doorstep no need for taxis or buses. We noted some guests complained about the fish smell from the stall opposite we didn't find this an issue in our 5 day stay we smelt it a couple of times only when walking down the last set of steps. We got a taxi from outside the aiport the queue was huge but it went down really quick it was 19 euros to the hotel. The lovely lady at reception booked our return private cab back to the aiport it was on time and only 25 euros. If we were to comment on a negative the only one we would say is the rooms could do with extra sound proofing as we could here the guests in the neighbouring rooms and the breakfast dishes being washed. All in all we would still go back to this hotel as all the positives way outweigh the small negative we had. We highly recommend this hotel, thank you Hotel Albergo Delle Drapperie.

We stayed 4 nights in the hotel as a small group of 9 women. The communication with Camilla and Letizia over the months before was very good, helpful and professional. Camilla did everything to organise a transfer to the airport although it was very difficult because of F1 race in Imola. We were so grateful for your help, many thanks and arrived in time! The rooms are equipped with good beds, are very clean and have a minibar. AC worked well, although not very quiet ;-) but it didn't bother us - we were so happy to have a cool room during these hot days. All the staff was friendly too and the breakfast exceeded our expectations: boiled eggs, croissants, bread, toast, cakes, fruit, joghurt, cheese and cold ham/sausages and every day a special treat (flan with artichokes and mushrooms), good coffee and juices. The hotel is very conveniently situated right in the heart of Quadrilatero - so enjoyable to walk out of the door and literally fall into gorgeous stalls and shops with fruit, fish, Parma ham, Parmesan cheese... right around the corner and opposite of the hotel are small shops, which sell softdrinks, beer and nibbles. It was the most excellent stay we could have had in Bologna and all my friends were as much delighted as I - a big thank you and we cannot wait to be back to experience and explore more of the wonderful city of Bologna!
