Bluff Beach Retreat

My heart hurts when seeing the photos of this magical place again. We (family of 4, kids 16 and 19yo) stayed here for nearly a week and we loved every second. The surroundings are so lucious and green, jungle to the beach, all kinds of birds, and wildlife surrounding the house. From sloths, to monkeys, to lizards, hummingbirds, and the oh so peculiar-sounding Montezumaoropendula (look it up). The beach was nearly empty, water clear and warm and if you're done with salt water, there's a swimming pool to dip into. On top of that, the management and staff are super friendly. I'm having a hard time finding anything negative to say, except for the fact that I miss it too much and want to go back. Of all places in Panama we stayed during our 4 week trip, this one may well have made the most the most lasting impression: heaven! Thank you Augusto et al.

Bluff Beach Retreat is not easy to get to, but is totally worth the effort! It is located right across a dirt road from a beautiful beach. From our casita we could hear the crashing waves all night long! Every day we saw capuchin monkeys jumping through the trees and enjoying the papaya. We saw sloths, parakeets and howler monkeys as well. The setting is gorgeous and the casita we stayed in was lovely - clean, modern and very comfortable. We had all our meals there and they were fantastic! every meal was expertly prepared and delicious. Augusto was wonderful at arranging our excursions (snorkeling, a trip to starfish beach and a catamaran sail at sunset). He was available for all questions and took care of all our needs.

What a treat to to host a yoga retreat at Bluff Beach Retreat! This idealyllic property on Bocas del Toro is the perfect mix of tropical vegetation, unique wildlife, intimacy, delicious food, comfort, an incredibly attentive and caring staff, and fantastic brown sugar beach. All of these elements came together to help me and my retreat partner to create a one-of-a-kind adventure yoga retreat for our guests. Although the purpose of my visit was leading a yoga retreat, I cannot wait to bring my family back to Bluff Beach SOON! Bluff Beach is a beautiful, welcoming, and super safe place that will amaze you at every turn.

Imagine eating a world class breakfast dotted with Panamanian and Argentine flavors combined with creative egg dishes, coconut bread, local fresh fruit that grew all over …while watching cappuccino monkeys play in the trees or a sloth slothing around looking for food… Birds merrily chipping with excitement of the new day…the sun rising just beyond the palm trees and vegetation that surrounds the outdoor dining room. Just feet from the sand Beach Bluff is not to be missed. With manager Augusto there to recommend tours and help you plan your fabulous days.. and use his local connections to make sure taxis take you and pick you up…. Anita I will never forget your exquisite morning coffee laced with just a bit of cacao…MUY RICO! …your yummy breakfasts…and your charm and availability to connect and share about Panamanian and South American culture … and chef Nicolle’s fabulous desserts and creativity. Beautiful rooms, fluffy towels, fantastic showers, lap pool, maintained bicycles with which to explore. I was there for a yoga retreat…every day yoga in the open air, roofed. Studio that felt like a tree house With wildlife activity all around us. The place is impeccable and all of the staff contributes to a well run hote that marries the authentic jungle+beach unspoiled feel of Bocas, while delivering a world-class intimate resort experience. 10 stars!

I am thrilled to recommend this boutique yoga retreat. The two owner managers Ron and Chris, have created a very special place with beautifully lush landscaping and an animal positive environment. I saw more unique species here than on any of the tours I booked in Costa Rica or Panama this trip. The rooms are thoughtfully designed (with attention to detail.) The staff all seem extremely polite and joyful. Special requests are not frowned upon but encouraged including food sensitivities. Which brings me to the kitchen staff. They have engaged the services of an extremely talented chef Nicole and some energetic Sous Chefs. I jumped on a yoga retreat that has attracted participants back on an annual Basis. As I mostly have done yoga on my own, I found it was extremely easy to jump into the rhythm of the “regulars” with no judgement at all. I highly highly recommend a vacation gere. It truly is a place where you can leave your cares behind. I look forward to returning! Susierra
