Bilbao City Rooms

I really loved our room! It was spacious. It was perfect for 3 people. They had a ceiling fan! I discovered that hotels don't have AC options during winter times, that's why I mentioned the ceiling fan. The reason why I chose Bilbao City Rooms is because of its proximity to the Guggenheim (7mins walk).

Overpriced. Room 9 small, sad, uncomfortable, interior. Same price (85) you can stay in a much better hotel in the same area. You should not be paying more than 50 euros max for that tiny gloomy room without even a desk to put your laptop and work, or put your luggage without tripping on it. Avoid it.

very loud, the walls are paper thin and you hear the receptionist yelling, the guests coughing in their rooms, grossly clearing their throats, going to the bathroom etc

This hotel is located a very short distance from the Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, and a large shopping district. The bus from the airport to city center stops just steps away from the hotel. In fact, it is the first stop after departing the airport. Bilbao’s old town is about 10 to 15 minutes walking distance. And should you wish to make use of the metro, it is a mere 5 minutes’ walking distance from the hotel. Getting in and out of the city (we rented a car to visit other sites such as the Rioja wine region and the coastal areas) was easy. You can be on the highway within just a few minutes. While the hotel does not have parking facilities, there are garages nearby with daily costs as low as 15 Euros per day. There are plenty of locations for breakfast, lunch and dinners in the neighborhood. The woman at the reception desk was very helpful in providing suggestions for eating out. The rooms are compact but well designed and clean. There is a ceiling fan which we used during the warmer nights (28C). The windows can be opened which provided cool air at night. Our hotel room was located on the 4th floor, which was reached with the lift.

Good location. Very bad WiFi connection in our room. The water in the bathroom sink drains very slowly.

I stayed with my 10-year-old son at Bilbao City Room for a two-night stay in the city. It was a perfect location to visit the Guggenheim Museum (walking distance). It is also a walking distance from the train station. The rooms are comfortable and clean, but if you tend to suffer from the heat, note that there is no air conditioning in the room. Ours had a ceiling fan and the window opened on a quiet courtyard. If you're looking for a good restaurant nearby and feel for Mexican food, try the Chilango.

Great location only minutes from Guggenheim. We had a triple room, facing an (ugly) interior court, opening window wasn’t really an option. This was however the only negative point, everything else was ok and value for price paid absolutely ok.

Our concierge when we arrived was a great help in pointing out places to visit in the city. His recommendations became our itinerary for the visit!! He was very knowledgeable about the several buildings by world famous architects that have been built in Bilbao. The Guggenheim is just but one of many! One of the more interesting was the adaptive reuse of the Alhondiga by Phillipe Stark, but you have Calatrava, Ando, Moneo, Silva, so many more! This hotel is right on the Main river and right next to a lock where ships navigate past a dam. You can watch big tankers and small boats raise and lower as they pass by. There is a walkway across the dam and you can visit a village on the opposite bank. Ice cream shop over there, but we didn't have time for that. Also the hotel fronts onto a riverside bike path and you see cyclists passing by. Check with the hotel - it looks like you might be able to get a bike. Also, the brew pub is great and has really nice food. It's about 30 Euros and 15 minutes from the airport, and worth it for the peace and quiet. We stayed one night each way on our trip, and loved it!
