Craig-y-Dderwen Riverside Hotel

Spent six nights in River View HotTub room - a well situated hotel within walking distance of distance of Betws-Y-Coed and easy driving of Snowdon and the rest of North Wales. Excellent stay with superb tidy well stocked room which has new carpets, loads of storage, good drinks tray and fridge Loved the private Hot-tub and the views down the river Friendly helpful staff and really good food Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough - a well run quality offering which really made our holiday special.

Myself and my husband stumbled across this place on red letter days. We visited just for afternoon tea, which was really nice. Really nice food, a**osphere, setting and friendly staff.

Excellent location by the river and a short walk or ride into the town. Food is excellent and the staff very friendly. One of our party eats dairy free and this was achieved with no fuss. Brilliant place!

Stunning location right by the river. We booked a top rated 4 poster bed room, with hot tub, shower, spa bath. TV, fridge, tea and coffee facilities, Tassimo and a stunning, spacious, private balcony. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was clean, tidied, and replenished each day. The food was fairly good. If somewhat overpriced and on occasions underwhelming. We came for a rest and relaxation break which was disturbed by some maintenance repairs to the hotel on a couple of occasions, caused by hammering directly adjacent to our room. The TV was not smart so a limited number of free view channels with no streaming or casting option. Spar bath did not work. The views were the main selling point. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The best hotel in North Wales. In the very best location and such friendly staff who made us feel so welcome. The food was absolutely incredible and the room was stunning. Would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone who’s thinking of staying in and around North Wales.

A one night stay turned into two due to how lovely this hotel is! The friendliness of staff, surroundings, wonderful dog friendly attitude and view make this hotel fantastic! Coffee at breakfast needs an upgrade!

We stayed at Craig-y-Dderwen for 2 nights recently. My husband and I had stayed there previously, but this time took my mother and our dog. Prior to booking I had some quite specific requests and these were all fulfilled which was much appreciated. The hotel is lovely and both rooms we used were very comfortable, well appointed and warm. The hotel is extremely dog friendly and our dog had a very nice time, as did us humans. Breakfast was very good, with lots of choice and good quality ingredients. We also had dinner in the restaurant which was also very good. The best thing about this hotel though is the staff, without exception, everyone was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. However, I must give a special mention to Mark, who went above and beyond, even opening up the kitchen early to make my husband an early breakfast. We would definitely return and would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

My wife and I spent a 5-night stay at this hotel, having chosen Betws-y-Coed as our base for north Wales. That was a great choice for that purpose because it gave entry to all of north Wales's attractions, and this hotel it turns out as well, was an excellent choice. First off, the staff was universally top-notch, friendly and helpful in every way. We chose to have dinner at the hotel's excellent dining-room each evening and that was also a fine choice with the chef excelling every evening, and offering very appealing choices with a wine-menu great for the food choices. The grounds are absolutely beautiful being right along the river with a magnificent view from the patio and sitting area where a drink was always available with truly beautiful a**osphere. Breakfast was also thoroughly satisfying. I do understand a review that might suggest that the hotel does warrant a bit of "sprucing up" but IMO it wasn't so "in need" that it distracted at all from the excellence of the hotel or its overall feeling. My only real criticism is that as otherwise scrumptious and satisfying as the breakfasts consistently were, the morning coffee was startlingly bad. We probably should have made that point but we chose not to and just got ourselves a nice cup of coffee elsewhere after breakfast. Again, this shouldn't distract from the overall experience of staying at the Craig-y-Dderwen Riverside Hotel. Instead, I'd hope that the management at least take this as constructive criticism and seriously consider addressing that. All in all, I believe that you can't go wrong with a stay at this fine hotel.

I had high expectations for my stay based on reviews and photos, and I was let down. As I walked into our room, I immediately said this isn’t a 4 star hotel. No power shower, cheap light fittings, £10 charge for dressing gowns, plastic flowers on tables in restaurant, cheap patio furniture, dirty balcony, no waiter service for bar even though the patio was 10ft away, and whilst I am mentioning the bar, 2 beers, one a half pint was £11.00. I have found London better priced. Dinner was £52 pp for 2 courses and it was trying too hard, portions were meagre, not ideal after a day spent walking. Breakfast was slow, and limited for a 4 star, no seeds/nuts, white or brown bread, 2 choice’s of jam, no honey, I had to return my poached eggs. We had a sloping ceiling in our room and my partner banged his head, not good. The setting is amazing, just a shame the hotel has lost its way. There is a nice walk from hotel and a dog area for a quick morning walk. It’s a bit of a walk to town too.
