The Circus Hotel

Het is zeldzaam om hotels te vinden die er gewoon goed voorstaan. Het Circus Hotel is er daar één van! Van een "rode loper" die in de gangen is uitgerold in lijn met hun thema, tot een handgeschreven welkomstkaart met Bulow-snoep (jammie!), pictogrammen naast de lichtknoppen en lampen die automatisch aangaan bij het betreden van de kamer en je 30 seconden de tijd geven om de sleutelkaarthouder te vinden. Goed gedaan team Circus! Chapeau!

Funky hotel met eigen café/bar voor toevallige passanten. Nadeel was een lawaaiige tramlijn buiten - maar met sterk dubbel glas - je hoeft alleen maar het raam dicht te doen! Uitstekende locatie bij de U Bhan met andere eetgelegenheden op een steenworp afstand. Een bezoek aan 'Kaschk' is een aanrader, een ambachtelijke bierlocatie om de hoek 🍻

Geweldige locatie met zeer behulpzaam personeel. Gemakkelijke toegang tot de metro en trams. Comfortabele kamer.

Het hotel ligt in het stadscentrum en vervoer is het grootste pluspunt. De lightrail en metro liggen recht tegenover het hotel en zeer dicht bij het stadscentrum. De eenpersoonskamer die ik had geboekt was een zolderkamer met een schuin dak en een oppervlakte van nog geen 15 vierkante meter. Het was een beetje krap en deprimerend toen ik incheckte. De receptieservice is goed, professioneel en enthousiast. De kamerprijs is meer dan 900 per nacht. Ik vind dat de prijs/prestatieverhouding niet hoog is. Als ik weer naar Berlijn kom, zal ik hier waarschijnlijk niet meer verblijven.

Ontbijt super - je moet de african eggs proberen. Eerste nacht van verblijf gemist, geen probleem om de dag erna vroeg in te checken. Zeer begripvolle en gastvrije ontvangst. Locatie is gewoon te goed. Ik heb genoten van de algehele ervaring.

I spent four wonderful days in Berlin during the middle of the June 2026 heatwave, and I'm delighted that I chose The Circus Hotel as my base. Getting there from Berlin Brandenburg Airport couldn't have been easier by train and U-Bahn. In fact, one of the hotel's biggest advantages became apparent the moment I arrived—the street-level exit from Rosenthaler Platz U-Bahn station is practically on its doorstep. After a day of traveling, that was a very welcome sight! My first impression was excellent thanks to the friendly gentleman who checked me in—I believe his name was Denis. He was warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. Throughout my stay, I encountered many different members of staff, and every single one was courteous, professional, and happy to assist. Great customer service really does make a difference, and the team here should be proud of themselves. My single room on the second floor, conveniently located near the lift, was exactly what I needed. It was spotlessly clean, thoughtfully furnished, and overlooked the peaceful garden at the back of the hotel, making it a lovely place to unwind after a busy day exploring Berlin. One thing worth mentioning is that my visit coincided with one of the hottest spells of the year. The hotel doesn't have air conditioning, which initially made me a little nervous. Fortunately, the room stayed surprisingly comfortable. I had brought along a small portable fan for a bit of extra air circulation, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well the room coped with the heat. And after a long day of sightseeing, the wonderfully cold shower was an absolute lifesaver—although if you're feeling brave, there's plenty of hot water too! The location is another major highlight. It made exploring Berlin incredibly easy. I could head out in the morning, return to the hotel for an afternoon rest during the hottest part of the day, then head back out in the evening refreshed and ready for more sightseeing. Hackescher Markt, Museum Island, and Berlin Cathedral are all within comfortable walking distance, while excellent public transport puts the rest of the city at your fingertips. Rosenthaler Platz itself has plenty of cafés, bakeries, restaurants, and takeaway options, along with convenience stores for anything you may have forgotten—or if you simply need to stock up on drinks before another day of sightseeing. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Circus Hotel. It combines a fantastic location, comfortable rooms, and genuinely exceptional staff, making it an easy hotel to recommend. If I return to Berlin—and I certainly hope I do—I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

LOVE the location - lots of great cafes, restaurants and shops. Great vibes and safe location. The rooms were a good size and clean. There is no air conditioning but they provided a fan which actually was fine. We really enjoyed our stay here. Every single staff member we spoke to was so friendly and helpful - giving us lots of tips! Love the special little details like a free treat tray with free toiletries, hand cream etc and free chocolate. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

We recently stayed at The Circus Hotel in Berlin, taking two rooms for a short family trip. The experience was, in many respects, excellent. The location is ideal—central, with easy access to public transport and within walking distance of a huge variety of restaurants and shops. Service throughout was truly commendable. Staff were attentive, friendly, and helpful at every turn. The hotel bar is a genuine highlight—stylish, welcoming, and well-stocked. We especially appreciated the honesty bar and terrace upstairs, which made for a beautiful, relaxed afternoon during our stay. Breakfast was another strong point, offering a good variety of quality options in a comfortable setting. The rooms themselves are well-sized, clean, and nicely appointed. However, there’s a major issue that any traveller should be aware of: there is no real air conditioning. What’s provided is what I would describe as a comfort cooling system—more symbolic than functional. During our stay, temperatures hovered around 25 °C during the day and 18 °C at night, yet the rooms remained unpleasantly warm. Both rooms had fans, and the windows had to be opened to let in any real cool air. It’s quite clear that the hotel expects guests to rely on the fans, which is not acceptable given the climate realities of Berlin summers. This significantly affected our comfort and sleep. For travel between late May and early October, I would strongly caution against booking unless you’re completely indifferent to room temperature. It’s unfortunate, because in almost every other respect, The Circus Hotel is a real gem. I genuinely wanted to love it, and in cooler months, I very likely would. But the absence of proper climate control is a deal-breaker in warmer weather, and it’s clear the hotel is aware of the issue—hence the fans in every room. Pros: • Excellent location • Superb service • Great breakfast • Fantastic bar and terrace • Generous room size Cons: • No air conditioning—only a weak cooling system and fans • Rooms become uncomfortably warm even in moderate summer temperatures Conclusion: A brilliant hotel during cooler seasons. But for summer stays, particularly with children or light sleepers, the lack of proper climate control unfortunately outweighs the many positives.
