Run down property, unhygienic restaurants with pigeons feeding off the tables and fighting for food, overcrowded and loud resort.
Very limited food options with bad refrigeration. Staff were not helpful at all. Every tourist trap you can think of will be offered through the tour company agents at the lobby.
There is no venturing out of the resort because the area is sketchy and in the middle of nowhere. There is also massive construction everywhere. Getting to and from the airport takes forever and the ******* shuttle was so late we barely made our flight back.

The beds could be a little more comfortable and making reservations at steak house could be less time consuming other that it was great would go back in near future

My boyfriend and I traveled to DR in celebration of his 51st birthday. I was excited to stay at the Riu property as I have stayed in their Costa Rica and Jamaica
properties and enjoyed it. The Riu Bambu was an absolute disappoin**ent. On our first night there the air conditioner stopped working. We called for repair and someone arrived to fix it. The next morning it went out again. There were small bugs crawling around the room so we kept our luggage packed up and tried to keep them from crawling into our belongings. We mentioned it to them that evening and were told that they did not have any available room to move us to. We asked if we could be moved the next day after some guests have checked out. They said they would try but could not make any promises. The food is terrible! That is not an exaggeration. The buffet food is flavorless and always cold. The property and the rooms are past due for renovations and updating. After the first night we decided we would book at stay at the new Secrets Tides resort and check out of Riu Bambu. This was the best choice we could have made. Upon checking out from the hotel we had another 6 nights booked for Riu but requested a refund due to the before mentioned issues. I called the travel agency to report our issues and ask for refund for the remaining nights. They attempted to call the resort for 30 min straight and could not reach anyone in the reservations dept. The final result is they declined to refund. Don’t book here!

This is a good resort for families and groups. Food could be a lot better, there was a few good and friendly staff, but not too many. Pool was dirty at times and towels were discolored and do yourself a favor and don’t look at the mattress. The property itself is beautiful and there’s lots of meet to hangout with. I liked the ppl we met more than anything else

They didn’t have a room available for me upon my arrival and upgraded me to the Hotel Riu Republica. Therefore I am not able to give a thorough review of the property.

Just book elsewhere. Bad food, Broken beds, dirty pools, vomit on sidewalks. Gross gross gross. Wish I could get a refund.

Wouldn’t not recommend. Cockroach seen in dining room of buffet. Limited food options. No room services. Room was outdated. Beach and pool were great.

Beautiful hotel friendly staff lots of activities for adults and kids Food was mid at best Housekeeping staff was great. Activity stuff was excellent checking staff was amazing. The rooms need updating bed needs to be thrown out
