I'm not a big fan of the area, and that wasn't helped by a stop in Peterborough before arriving here, but The Black Horse was a really pleasant surprise. Check in was easy, room was spacious and comfortable, and we had both lunch and dinner there, both meals being absolutely lovely. Cannot fault the staff, was a really comfortable village pub environment for some time spent relaxing during the day, and it's impressive to see that they also had a surprisingly wide range of non-alcoholic drink options.

The room was good staff very helpful and pleasant. Food was good. Excellent location. Very pretty pub and hotel. Ample off street parking. Will definitely be back to stay if I am in the area again. The only thing that let the bar down was the choice of sugar free drinks

Ordered roast lunch from the seniors specials lunch menu 2 courses for £14 also 3 courses available . I only wanted one course which was a very reasonable £10. Good amount of turkey, roast potatoes, stuffing , Yorkshire and fresh beans and carrots . Great friendly service and spotlessly clean . Will definitely be returning . A very nice relaxed atmosphere with attentive staff and tasteful Christmas decorations .

We stayed for two nights as were attending a friend’s funeral locally. The wake was also held at The Black Horse. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, the bar has a good selection of beers, wines and spirits. Our room was quite spacious with a large shower room and a very comfortable king-size bed. Also tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits were available. Breakfast was great, with cereals and yoghurt followed by a choice of cooked options, the first morning we had the hearty full English and on the second morning the breakfast omelette. Both were really tasty and well cooked. Would we return….definitely

Was our second stay here meeting friends from the area. As before was a lovely warm welcome. Lovely relaxing bar area. Rooms were very clean and spacious. Breakfast was delicious. Throughout the stay all staff were very friendly. Would defiantly stay again.

We stayed at the pub for one night to meet friends and as a stopover on our way to Yorkshire. Staff, service and cleanliness were all excellent. We had an evening meal which was lovely and great value for money. A cooked breakfast was included which was freshly cooked with quality ingredients. There was also cereals, yogurts, fruit juice and tea/coffee available. We would definitely return again if we are in the area.

The Black Horse at Baston near Peterborough was the chosen venue for our son and his fiancé wedding day. The venue was booked and the Bridal suite and rooms for family members reserved too. The Wedding ceremony took place in lovely intimate surroundings followed by drinks and wonderful photographs in the surrounding gardens. The Wedding breakfast of delicious, hearty and well cooked food was excellently served by The Black Horse staff who looked after us and our guests from the beginning to end of our wonderful day. Thank you so much to all the Black Horse staff and would like to mention a special thank you to Gail who was our wedding organiser who worked tirelessly to ensure that this special day was the wonderful success that it was. Our breakfast the following day was great too. Thank you Thank you

A great place to go for a drink or a meal. The staff are engaging and as a group of four, we had a very nice 2 course meal (we couldn’t manage a dessert) The food was lovely and not too small portions as some establishments deliver. Cannot fault anything at all😊😊

This was not a good experience. . The owner was moody and the staff were abrupt. We ate the night we visited to test the food. We had burgers and they were dryer than a nun's crutch! There was a fat guy with tattoos and shorts on the stool at the bar who was really rude. Proper foul mouth. It's a shame as in principle it looks a nice place but I'm gonna have to opt for elsewhere I think
