I saw a program in CNA about this resort and went to book right away. I wasn't aware such place existed but apparently it was before under the Alila umbrella. The location was beautiful, flanked by the beautiful paddy fields on one side and flat, beautiful, black, clean beach on the other. Far away, there was a majestic mountain. It was quintessentially Bali (when it was still great).. The property was impressive architecturally. The quiet nook and crooks, the open restaurants and pool, the private villas spoke of the thoughts that went into designing the building. Despite it being built some time ago, it was still fresh and modern now. Very impressive. We arrived very late at night from Sumba due to flight delays. We kept communication with the front-desk staff who assured us that everything would be taken care off. Airport pick-up was smooth when we were handed over from the VIP service to the driver. During the drive, the van was equipped with cold towel, drinks and snacks which was a great comfort after our nervous journey out of Sumba! During the drive, we noted that the restaurant was closing soon. We called the hotel to ask if we could still squeeze sometime for dinner. Menu was sent to our phones and we ordered so that dinner would be promptly available when we get there. The check-in was smooth and quick. I asked them to usher my elderly mother to the room immediately as it was windy, cold and she was tired after the long journey. She was taken care of immediately. Then dinner was served almost when we arrived at the restaurant as the check-in staffs alerted them we were on our way. Food was delicious throughout our stay. Breakfast was variable and presented fresh upon orders. We had the special Megibung dinner one night and it was delicious! The chef really made an authentic Megibung and portion was generous. We felt really pampered at Soori and for us, service is foremost in this level of hotels. We were sad to leave but cannot wait to return. Tips: the journey did take a lot time due to traffic jams along the way. But the hotel drivers were used to it and were skilled in taking the roads less jammed. However, still plan plenty of time for the journey (2-3 hours).
