The Old Passage Inn

Arrived one Sunday after previous visits here being lovely food. Phoned before to ask if sandwiches were still served with chips and salad on a Sunday which we were told yes. Although upon ordering when asking the landlady snapped back with ‘NO, we can’t do chips on a Sunday only crisps’ we were chucked a packet of crisps and then waited for our sandwich. On last visits it was always presented lovely but when our sandwiches came out they weren’t even cut. Just didn’t look appetising at all. It was supposed to be a coronation. Chicken sandwich. More like a coronation sultana sandwich as I think there was one piece of chicken. See picture. Also on walking down stairs to the toilet, rooms from the stairs looked disgusting so not sure I would even eat there again.

Absolutely fantastic afternoon drink and evening meal at this lovely quaint inn. Staff extremely friendly and fantastic service. Excellent home cooked food and great choice. Highly recommended and provide breakfast, lunch and evening meals as well as snacks and cakes throughout the day. Bowl of crisps provided with our afternoon drinks a lovely touch Definitely 5 stars from me.

We were tempted to try the Local Breakfast by the Old Passage Web site. Unfortunately when we arrived on a Thursday after a significant drive, we were told that they no longer open Mon - Thursday due to minimal customer demand. Please keep the Web site up to date.

The Old Passage was for me a stopping-off place on the Severn Way, and what a great find! A relaxed, family-run Inn offering comfortable accommodation, great food (especially breakfast, with eggs from their own chickens), and lovely views across the Severn. Also a camping area by the river. Hugely dog friendly too 😀🐕

I find some of the comments on here unfair, this is a lovely place to visit right next to the river Severn. The food was excellent and the staff really friendly. Very peaceful and lovely views, will definitely be back.

Very friendly pub in fantastic location looking over river Severn. Sunny day so sat outside for sandwich and pint. Sandwich was accompanied by skin on fries and salad. We had prawn mayo & coronation chicken. Bot were well filled, delicious and generous. Nice cold pint of St Miguel to wash it down. Excellent value for money, fast & efficient service. Popular with walkers and dog owners. Also opens in morning for breakfast and all day for coffee & cake. Footpath goes right past it. Too tempting. Will be back for coffee on our next Riverside walk

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, Louise made us very welcome. Our room overlooked the river and was clean and comfortable. It was great to sit in bed looking out at the river and across to Newnham. The food was first class and reasonably priced.

Popped in for a drink. This is definitely a quirky venue with masses of potential but needs a good tidy and spruce up. I didn’t see the hygiene rating (which may well have been displayed but I missed it) but I wasn’t convinced I’d want to eat there, from what we saw of front of house. I may be wrong (and I hope that I am) but the impression we had of the general cleanliness wasn’t great. Something to work on maybe? Location is lovely and this could be a great venue. My impression? Looks like a lot of untapped potential.

We stayed here in our camper van for an evening. The location is beautiful. The pub/cafe serves good coffee and our evening meal was tasty. The owner and staff are very welcoming. The sweetest part of our stay was when the staff brought out a little bowl of sausage for our dog, Pepper. Pepper was enthralled! She urged us to give the Old Passage a five star rating. Well, we were going to do that anyway …..
