Hotel Punta Negra

We had the Seaview room with balcony. The room was great. The view awesome. The breakfast was incredible !

Ligging van het hotel is fantastisch net als het hele complex. Het gebouw is echter een beetje oud en nogal liefdeloos ontworpen. Helaas was het personeel een beetje onvriendelijk/ongemotiveerd.

Definitely not a family friendly hotel. We have just returned from a 10 night stay. On numerous occasions our kids were told to be quiet around the pool area and on a few occasions while they were quietly throwing a small ball to each other on a grassy area by the pool were told by the lifeguard to move to a different area - a secluded grassy area at the back of the pool. We did not feel comfortable with this!!! This continued for the full 10 days, we found it very upsetting and it spoilt the holiday for us all. I approached reception and explained our issue, I was told a manager would contact me but I never heard from anyone. We have travelled all over Europe for the past 12 years with our children and have never had an issue with noise in any hotel we have stayed in. I feel this hotel wants to cater for adults only and therefore it needs to advertised as such. We didn't complain about the piano being played on the terrace every night until Midnight but our children were told not to play with a ball at 3pm in the day in case they woke sleeping guests!! I agree with the reviews about the strong smell of egg coming from the beach, but the beach is well maintained and seaweed is cleared up everyday by staff. Stunning views and overall a lovely hotel but I would not go back or recommend to anyone with children. A very disappointing stay.

Who invited and wants the terrible piano-player under our balcony ?? We stay here for rest, not form music. Keep the music in the bar and not outside 😡. The beach is dirty and stinks !! Photos of the private beach at the hotel do not reflect reality.

This hotel is hugely overrated and the pictures are deceiving. The hotel is rated 4 stars but in my opinion, does not meet this standard. The general impression is 'meh', which means that there is nothing special or of character in this hotel. First landing on the terrace overlooking the sea (a moment of great expectations!) and you immediately notice a strong unpleasant smell. Not sure if this was due to algae in the water, but as another reviewer before me has mentioned the same thing, I wonder if this is something else and rather more permanent. The unpleasant lingering smell in the room was the next disheartening moment on our introduction tour. Almost certainly this was due to mould in the unventilated bathroom. Mould was evident all around the shower screen. The beach - another big promise in pictures, is not that privet nor secluded. What the pictures don't show you is the tired outskirts of Fertilia, the neighbouring town and next-door block of flats, immediately adjacent to the hotel's beach. Anyone can visit this beach which is really not a problem as itself, not for me anyway, but please don't advertise false information. Finally, the breakfast was very poor. Seemingly a wide selection, but that's because they spread it over miles of tables and a very large empty, characterless room. The menu is a selection of not too appetising bits and bobs. Exceptions are the vast selection of cakes which are good if you like a few different ones for breakfast. The rest was presented in a rather lazy way, and very very basic. The very understaffed breakfast team was rushed off their feet, disorganised and argued loudly across the room. I compare it to the hotel we stayed in before Punta Negra, also 4 stars, and the difference in quality of service and food is stark. On the positive side - The pools are nice. The gardens are very well maintained. It's hard to put a finger on what it was, the dead atmosphere, the smell, the lack of spark or effort overall but the place was just not that comfortable, clean, or exciting in any way. With the money you pay, you can certainly do much better elsewhere.

The hotel is in a superb location by the sea with walks in the forest and along coastal paths plus cycling nearby. Lovely clean hotel with helpful staff and a good selection of breakfast goodies, especially honey from a honeycomb.

The hotel is beautiful. Private beach, and beautiful grounds. The infinity pool views are breathtaking. The hotel was clean, the staff are very polite and friendly. The only thing that was a negative was that there were no tea or coffee making facilities within the room, you had to buy from the bar. And to get to the main town of Fertilia, there is a 10 minute walk down a path which is fine, but no lighting when It gets dark.

Family-friendly and super nice hotel. Fantastic sea view. Lots of excursion options. Very nice and helpful staff.
